What's Up At The Nest...
Principal's Message
We are missing your children today! Our teachers were busy working today to plan additional E-learning days should school remain closed after spring break. The building is so quiet and lacks the energy that your children bring to us each day. Please remember that tomorrow is not an E-Learning day because we were going to be closed for elections. E-Learning day 2 will continue on Wednesday, March 18th.
Mrs. Hardt, our school social worker, shared some great links below that you might utilize to talk with your children about COVID-19 and all that is happening. Our staff will be checking email regularly so don't hesitate to send us an email if you have any questions. This is unchartered territory for Olive-Us. Be patient with one another and don't forget our #OwlsforOthers during this very different time.
Sincerely,
Erin and Julia

Primary Social Story Here is a social story about the coronavirus that is simple and to the point. It was created for children with Autism but the direct approach paired with visuals makes it ideal for Preschool-aged and young elementary children as well. Corona Virus Social Story (Click the red box to download) | Just For Kids: A Comic Exploring The New CoronavirusNPR article/comic for explaining coronavirus to children. It is geared toward children older than preschool-aged but might give parents some good ideas and visuals they can use. It does not talk about school closure but could be followed up with a conversation about how another way to keep everyone safe is to stay home to stop the spread of germs. | Advice for Parents |
