The Beginning of Softball

Softball was first invented as an indoor sport. On Thanksgiving day in 1887, George Hancock and a couple of Yale students played the first softball in Chicago. They used a boxing glove as the ball and a broomstick as a bat and named it indoor baseball. Softball is very similar to baseball. The differences are that women generally play softball and a softball is bigger than a baseball.
