Feeling Springy!
Another busy March week has gone by with all kinds of activities happening. We had ball bouncing in the hallway to study reflection, clue games on elements in grade 8 science and Art started the unit with clay - always a favorite!
We have also had another great week with very few cases of Covid. Next week students will move to the cafeteria for all lunches, which means students in the cafeteria will not seated three feet apart. While most students are very excited to be with their peers at lunch, we know that some may want to maintain a distanced space. Each grade level will keep one classroom available for students that would prefer to eat with more distance than is allowed in the cafeteria. We mentioned this today at lunches and homeroom teachers will also talk about it on Monday. When talking with some grade 8 students, we realized it will be the two-year anniversary of the LAST time they all ate together in the cafeteria in grade 6!
Finally, we are also heading into MCAS season. On Monday we will do a trial test to check our networks and devices. The test takes about 30 minutes and we do an extended HR schedule so students do not miss any classes. I have listed the MCAS dates below for your planning purposes.
NHS Sports Weekend
It's a big weekend for NHS sports! Were you unable to get a ticket to Boys hockey or Basketball? There are still a few seats left for the NHS Girls basketball Game on Saturday. Come help fill the bleachers to show how we support our teams in Norwood. I've a few people call us "TitleWood" - it could catch on!
It's Tourney time and it’s down to the Elite 8 . Come out and support Norwood girls basketball when they host North Quincy Saturday at 4:30. Tickets are now live. Order sooner than later and don’t risk them selling out. There is a cap. Let’s pack the Barn! Link is below.

Absence, Tardy, Dismissal Process
Absence Process
As we head into the winter season, I wanted to clarify how to call your child in for an Absence, tardy, or for dismissal. I will also leave this info at the bottom of all future newsletters for easy referral.
If you need to call your child in absent or tardy, please call the student absent line: 781-762-7880 and press #1. Please state your child's first and last name, the date, and the reason for the absence/tardy (sick, appointment, etc)
If your child needs to be dismissed, have your child bring a note from you to school, come to the main office in the morning and fill out a dismissal slip.
