Rock Hill Review

Opening Up
We had our final furniture meeting on Tuesday to secure all of the furniture selections for Rock Hill. I posted a picture of what type of furniture will be in a typical Rock Hill classroom but this is just a small piece of what all will be in the building. The key to the majority of our selections was to make RHHS an environment where students and teachers can collaborate not just in the classroom, but throughout the building. Because of this, there are a number of flexible seating arrangements throughout the campus and even outside the main building. Without question, RHHS will be unlike any school environment you've ever seen and will provide our students a college-type atmosphere in a high school setting.
We have also started the process on how we will begin to staff RHHS and grow from our current number of 2! Hiring is going to be critical to our opening and making sure we have the right people in place is a must. This week we spent a considerable about of time talking with our central office staff on what this is going to look like for RHHS and developing a potential time table for when postings and interviews can take place.
Lastly, and this is something I try to do each week, is rotate between PHS, Rogers and Hays. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Burdett, Mr. Jetton and Mr. Jones. They have all been a tremendous help and have made the start of this transition process a great experience for students who will be attending RHHS next year. It was great to be a part of PHS Homecoming this week and this is definitely a popular topic when it comes to Rock Hill because there are a lot of questions as to what this will look like for us next year. I can tell you that we are already having these discussions and have no doubt it will be great at both schools! One of the best parts of opening a new school is honoring past traditions and being able to create new ones. It will be exciting to see and be a part of the first ever Rock Hill High School Homecoming!
