Martin's Memos

Volume 2, Issue 25: March 8, 2019

This Week

Parents,

Please read the information in our newsletter below and let me know if you have any questions. Look for an article about the opening of the Avondale GATE Magnet School in the Rochester Post (C&G) in the next few weeks! Also, you will notice some changes in your child's report card envelope this trimester - a report card narrative. These will come home on the 15th.

Have a great weekend!

Positivity Project - P2

This week's character strength is: Cheering Others' Successes

On an individual level, being supportive of people who succeed is good for our mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Envy and jealousy often derive from a common place: a sense of inadequacy. So, by actively reminding yourself to cheer a friend or colleague’s success (and doing it) can help you “fake it until you become it” with it being self-confidence.

On a group level, when people cheer each other on it begins a reciprocal process that forges stronger relationships. And, those relationships are the foundation for a strong culture in teams, schools, and businesses.

March is Reading Month!

March is reading month! This year our school will be "Popping Into Reading"! See the flyer and information that is coming home in Friday Folders today. Basically the students will turn in their popcorn piece of paper with your signature to confirm they read for 150 minutes that week to earn prizes!

The first popcorn was due today. The students that turned their popcorn in will receive their "treat" on Monday. The next popcorn piece is due this Friday the 15th.
