March Photo Contest Winners - Theme: Spring Breaking
Ella B. 1st Grade CASC My photo is of my very favorite plant in our flower bed island. It is one of the first to bloom when Spring arrives! The tiny white flowers all over are so beautiful. The brightness of the mounds of white really show up and stand out! | Riley B. 5th Grade CASCSpring Breaking at home, in the Upstate of South Carolina, means crisp mornings that turn into mild, warm afternoons. One of the very first signs of Spring, that my little sister and I wait and watch for, are these beautiful tulips in my photo. They are especially important to us, because we planted them ourselves 3 years ago, from the bulbs! Happy Spring Breaking! | Erin B. 6th Grade CVAThis is a trail by a river that I thought was perfect for the spring breaking theme, because every where I looked were little leaves unfurling, and sprouts just reaching the earth's surface for the first time. Moss hung from every tree from last spring, making the trail seem like a fantasy land. You felt like at any moment, a fairy or troll could walk out of the forest, and you wouldn't be surprised! |

Fabiola R. 2nd Grade, ALVAThis is Fiona, my beautiful dog! It is my best friend and my best company. It takes care of me and loves to play with my family. Fiona is a rescue dog, It has found love in our family. | Dana C. 5th Grade, TOPSThis are my two pet cockatiels Max and Ruby. The instant Max saw Ruby they fell in love! From then on they never got apart. They are always doing something together. This picture explains their love for each other. | Josephine H. 8th Grade, ALVAThis is my dog, Bellatrix. We adopted her on December 5th, 2020, one month after my dog Teddy passed away. Teddy was my best friend and I did not want to get another dog. I was terrified that the same thing would happen: they would get sick and pass away. My family and I had been to several meet and greets, but I was still reluctant. One day, we met a little black lab named Meadow (now Bellatrix), and I fell in love. I love her little wet nose and floppy noodle ears. I'm so thankful to have her in my life, which pushed me to love again. The shelter Bellatrix came from is a non-profit, and they are strictly funded by financial donations and fundraisers. They receive no local, state, or federal funding. If I win this contest, I will use all the money to buy supplies for the shelter. |

Madison W. 11th Grade CPAI chose a photo of crab apple blossoms covered in snow! I took this photo a little while ago, but I think it fits the theme well. I have a few more pictures of my neighbor's crab apple tree covered in snow but I chose this one because it had a focus and unlike my second choice; didn't have snow blocking the main focus. My winters are usually more focused on the snow in Colorado so a picture about both the snow and my favorite part of summer (flowers and thriving plants) seemed appropriate. I really like this picture hope you do too! |
