Filipino American History Month

RSVP for Opening Day | Tita Cris Tells Her Story | FAE News

Dear Iskwelahang Pilipino Families:

We couldn't let Filipino American History Month end without finding a way to celebrate! Here are five ways to show your Filipino American pride.

READ IP's Filipino American Experience Newsletter

The FAE Newsletter is one of IP's newest traditions. The newsletter introduces Filipino American role models, highlights top stories, and recounts important moments in Filipino American history. Many thanks to Tita Melanie Burgonio Martin for launching the newsletter, now in its 5th edition.

WATCH this moving interview with Tita Cris

Cristina Castro is Iskwelahang Pilipino's longest serving school director and IP Rondalla founder. She was featured in a recent interview for Filipino American History Month by Philjay Solar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Asian American Commission. Mrs. Castro, or "Tita Cris" as she is known by generations of IP students and alumni, recounted stories from her childhood during World War II, her immigration and early career as an educator in the US, as well as recollections from the early days of founding IP.
