Animation Adventure
For this term's REAL project topic, Year 2 will be creating an animation recounting the Great Fire of London. Yesterday they went to Curzon cinema in Ripon to watch 'Early Man' for free as part of the Into Film Festival which is the largest youth film festival in the world. It gave the children the opportunity to see an animation and have the full cinema experience with an icy cold drink and pop corn. Hopefully this will inspire the children for their own animation and exhibition.
Cracking Cross Country Winners
Our Daily Mile is clearly impacting on pupils' running ability as Team Cathedral came first with Hannah Salden running like a rocket and being the fastest overall runner. Well done to everyone involved!
Year 4 Welcome Worship
Following this half term's value of compassion, the Year 4 children gave their thoughts on what compassion meant to them, focusing particularly on compassion for those affected by conflict and war. They read their poems about Hope and their descriptions of a scene from a short story, The Day War Came. The worship finished with ‘Like a Bridge over Troubled Water’ which was sung beautifully. Thank you to all the parents who attended.

MESSAGE FROM THE FRIENDS
Hyacinths
Welcome back from the Friends. We've a busy half term in the run up to Christmas. Is anyone free on Friday 16th November in the morning to help pot up hyacinth bulbs ready for the Cathedral Christmas Fair on Saturday 24th November? Full instructions will be given (and tea and coffee to keep us going!). We are doing the potting at a member of the Friends' house near school. If you can help, please message us via Facebook or tell the school office.
Also, can any parents who bought the plants last year bring in any empty pots if they are happy for us to reuse them? In addition, we are looking for nice bone china teacups, teapots and gravy boats to use as pots. If you have any pretty china items please do donate them to school – or if you spot any in charity shops let us know. They need to be in good condition and undamaged – thank you!
