Chisholm Update

February 8th

Greeting Chisholm Families!

It's hard to believe that we are fast approaching the middle of February and the 3rd nine weeks reporting period. With the weather forecast for the next week, it looks like Punxsutawney Phil was correct when it was predicted that winter would continue for the next 6 weeks.

I wanted to announce that last week our school was able to sell $1,688 worth of Chargie Grams, which equates to 6,752 actual Chargie Grams. This annual tradition provides our school the opportunity to spread a little Valentine cheer throughout our building. It also provides us the opportunity to fundraise for Edmond Memoria's Swine Week. We certainly appreciate everyone's help in selling, filling out, and delivering each gram to their intended recipient.

I also wanted to brag on our students and their progress as a school getting on and working with IXL. As you might recall, all the elementary schools were in a friendly IXL tournament, which was announced in October. The tournament was a way to encourage use and participation in IXL and the head-to-head matchup was based on the number of questions students from each school answered. We won our first-round match vs. Washington Irving, but we were narrowly edged out by Frontier in our 2nd round match. At that point, we set a goal of 2 million questions answered by students by spring break, and the students have done an excellent job getting on and working through IXL. As of today, our school has answered 1,618,000 questions. We are on pace to get close to the 2 million question goal. Overall, our progress puts us in a virtual tie with three other schools for 3rd place throughout the district.

Valentine's Day Parties

A Students - Tuesday, February 16

B students - Friday, February 12

Parties will begin towards the end of the day unless otherwise stated by the grade level.

Similar to our earlier parties this year, we would ask that snacks be individually wrapped items. We will have tables out front of the school prior to each party day for deliveries. If possible, the items can also be sent with students at the start of the day. If you are delivering snacks, please be sure to mark when they need to be delivered, teacher and grade level.

Students traditionally have brought Valentine's treats for others in the room to hand out during these parties. We would like to continue that again this year. We will send these treats home with students at the end of the day, and parents can decide when they want to let their students get into the treats.

100 Days of School

Friday, February 5th and Monday, February 8th, Chisholm students recognized the 100 day of school. Mrs. Siler and Mrs. Clampitt dressed up to celebrate this day.
