# The Laws Of Motion Relate To Golf

## 1st Law of Motion

The first law of motion is that an object at rest stays at rest and a object in motion stays in motion until acted on by an outside force. When you hit a golf ball it will keep going because of inertia. It will stop because an unbalanced force acts on it such as friction.

## 2nd Law of Motion

The second law of motion states that force=mass x acceleration. This law is shown when putting. The ball has a certain or known mass. The force is decided by you. If you apply the same force to a smaller hall and a bigger ball, the smaller ball will go farther.

## The third law of motion

This is shown when you hit the ball against an obstacle. When the ball pushes against the obstacle the obstacle pushes back with the same force. This causes the ball to change direction. It loses energy and slows down.
