An update from Principal Williams
Steele Lane Families,
It's hard to imagine that we are so close to our August 17th start date for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. I can understand how the uncertainty of these times during the pandemic is challenging for our families, staff, and students. I never would have thought this is the way I would begin being your principal at Steele Lane. I am sure many of you are feeling very similar to me. While COVID 19 has forced us to alter how school will be delivered this fall know that our staff is dedicated to our community and will do our best to ensure that our students are offered not only a robust learning experience but also various systems of support and interventions to guide them to be successful.
Following the large rise in COVID-19 cases, the Sonoma County Health Officer announced that our county is placed on a watch list with 22 other counties. The governor announced new state and local criteria for holding in-class instruction. The reality of the spread of the virus in the county and state is causing school districts to have multiple plans (see the Return to School Plan ) in place for the 2020-21 school year. All schools in Sonoma County are obligated to only offer distance learning at this time (please see the below section on Selecting a Remote Learning Option).
Due to these constantly changing times, I will be sending out a weekly newsletter to our school community to provide you with the most recent information available. I want to personally thank you for your patience and understanding.
None of what we prepare for is going to work if we do not work closely as a school and home community. Our students and their futures are extremely important. Steele Lane Staff and Families must work together to attain success regardless of what model we are working with.
Thank you for continuing to read these updates and please encourage other Steele Lane Families to stay connected electronically. Online updates are going to be the way that we communicate while we are not on campus together, so we need all our families connected to us via online platforms.
Please reach out to me if you need anything since our main office is now closed throughout this month. I can receive emails in both English and Spanish at awilliams01@srcs.k12.ca.us
May the FORCE be with you,
Principal Williams
The choice is yours...
We are looking forward to welcoming our students back for the 2020-21 school year in the safest way possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, which at this time means remote learning. You will pick an option for your student by filling out a form in Illuminate Education, which was sent to you Wednesday, July 22.
School will begin on Monday, August 17th. All SRCS families need to select one of these two remote learning options for your student: Learning House or Distance Learning. For more information on these, please check out the district webpage on them: Remote Learning Options for 2020-21
Please do the best you can to select an option by August 3rd. We will be contacting families in the future with more information, but this choice will allow us to do critical planning to get the school year started. If you have questions particular to your school, please call the main office line at (707) 890-3945, please leave a message with your contact information so we may return your call, or email me at awilliams01@srcs.k12.ca.us . If you have general questions, please contact Cindy Deuel at (707) 890-3800 x80302 or cdeuel@srcs.k12.ca.us.
