Wellness Wednesday
Wednesday, June 10, 2020
Dear Families,
Reminder:
Student Belongings Pickup is June 11 and June 12. Check Monday's newsletter or the school app for your scheduled pickup time. When you arrive to gather your child's belongings the process should be fairly quick. Your child's items are already packed and ready for you. Student items are bagged and labeled above the student lockers.
Please remember not to bring any of the borrowed CHROMEBOOKS or IPADS back on these dates, we have a different return date and plan for these.
We will need you to bring the following with you on this day:
Library Books: There will be a collection area for this inside the school.
Grades K, 1 and 2: Remote learning student work that we asked you to set aside in a folder or portfolio.
Classroom Textbooks: 3rd-grade students must return their Social Studies textbooks.
Classroom Books Borrowed: Many teachers have a classroom library- please return these books in a labeled bag.
Classroom Items Borrowed- like scissors, math manipulatives, etc. (excludes IPADS & Chromebooks).
Important: Return all your items in a bag, a grocery bag will work. Make sure to put your child's name and teacher’s name. We will have you leave items in your child's grade level project area. CES staff will be on hand for assistance.
Please remember to pick up any medications at the HEALTH OFFICE during this time.
Staff will be on hand to help with directions and questions if needed.
Here are the guidelines that everyone will be expected to follow:
- Social Distancing is required. Everyone must maintain 6 feet distance at all times.
- Everyone must wear a mask, this includes students.
- One adult with each student, to minimize the number of people in the building at once.
- You will enter the front doors and exit the rear grade-level wing doors.
- Students and their parent/guardian will be directed to one of the two front door entrances upon arrival.
- If the date does not work for you, please email me at maestasr@carver.org.
All School Parade is June 18, here are the grade level times:
Times for Grade Levels:
Pk - K will begin at 9:00 am (parents asked to be at CES by 8:30 am)
1 - 2 will begin at 10:00 am (parents asked to be at CES by 9:30 am)
3 - 4 will begin at 11:00 am (parents asked to be at CES by 10:30 am)
5 - will begin at 12:00 pm (parents asked to be at CES by 11:30 am)
Carver Police will join us and the Fire Department will be the lead vehicle for each grade.
Here is what we need parents/guardians to do:
Arrive at the time designated above. Once you arrive, you will be directed by staff to the waiting line.
Remain in your vehicles at all times.
Place a large placard/sheet of paper with your family name, for example, The Grenier Family on the passenger side of your vehicle so we can announce your family.
For all 5th grade students, please place the student’s full name on the placard as well. This way we can announce and give special recognition to the 5th graders as they are going by.
We are working on having this video-recorded and live-streamed on Facebook. We will provide you with the live stream details in the coming days. Thank you for all your support and patience as we work through the challenges brought on by COVID-19.
CES Counseling Team - Discussing Coronavirus with Children
We hope you are all well and staying safe. Many of you have asked how we can best support families in the discussion regarding Coronavirus with their children. As a counseling team, we have selected two readings (K-2 & 3-5) we would like to share with you. The first: “Why We Stay Home, Suzie learns about Coronavirus,” is read by school adjustment counselor Jordyn Hardiman and geared towards the K-2 population of students. The second book, read by school nurse Vira Berkobein, intended for the students in grades 3-5, is called “A Little Spot Stays Home: A story about viruses and social distancing.”
