Sabold Scoop
August 2013
Good Luck!
I want to wish you all good luck on the first day of school and for the 2013-2014 school year. You are an incredible group of educators. Be yourselves. Do what you know is best, and our children will thrive. You are ready for the students to return. You have the vision, passion, and expertise. Years from now our students will look back and recognize that we have created an atmosphere of care, compassion, and challenge. You are what makes Sabold great... so thank you, and good luck!

Technology
We had some discussion about technology yesterday. Here is a link to the board policy on electronic devices: http://www.ssdcougars.org/files/filesystem/ProhibitionOftElectronicDevices237.pdf
While bringing phones and iPods to school is not prohibited according to board policy, the students are expected to have electronic devices off and in book bags at the elementary level. Students are responsible for the electronics they bring to school.
"The District assumes no responsibility for the loss, theft, damage, or misuse of any electronic device that is brought onto school grounds, to a school-sponsored activity, or on any District vehicle."
Our First Faculty Meeting
Thank you all for your participation yesterday. Our students are fortunate to have outstanding educators coaching and supporting them along their journey. As we said yesterday, and we all know... it's about the kids. That is why we are all here.
The conversations we had yesterday were valuable and will foster collaboration. We will continue to analyze our students' needs and do whatever it takes to support them. When we analyze data, we are able to extract themes, provide specific and targeted feedback, and set goals for our students.
Our meeting yesterday only heightened my excitement for the year. Our students will likely have peaks and valleys throughout the course of the school year. Remember to praise their efforts and learning. Help them to celebrate the small wins, but keep the long-term goals in mind. Results do not always happen immediately. We can help our students persevere through the challenges they face, and set high aspirations for themselves. “Greatness and nearsightedness are incompatible.” Have a great year.
