Grades
This is the end of the first three weeks. When you look in the gradebook, you will notice some assignments are entered twice. This is because the district gradebook does not match the college gradebook. To make them match, I enter daily work and quizzes in the homework category (10%) and the daily category (20%) which will then bring it to the 30% that matches the University. The grade on the progress report only consists of two grades as the students have been working on their paper. I will get this graded as soon as possible as this is a test grade. The students worked hard on the history of their chosen language - I am looking forward to reading them :)
This week
We will make sure that we know all the advanced Word features and then we will begin the advanced Excel features. COSC 1310 is a one semester class that we have spread over the course of the entire year so that we can take the time to make sure that the advanced skills are with the students. Last year, we worked in Office 2010 and 2013 does look different. I want to make sure that they are successful.
New schedule
This week begins the new bell schedule for Waxahachie Global High School. If your student arrives at school prior to 8 am, they will sign in at the gym and they may be released at 3:15 (unless they need to stay for tutoring). If they arrive after 8 am, they will report to study hall or tutoring from 3:10-3:45. This is an excellent opportunity for students to complete their homework or work on group projects. For most of your students, nothing will change. Please contact Mr. Snook at dsnook@wisd.org if you have any concerns.
Dress Code
Please remind your student to be in dress code. As a reminder, per WISD dress code policy, student IDs must be worn between the shoulders and the waist and be visible at all times. Your student does not need to miss instruction due to dress code issues.
Thank you
I really cannot say thank you enough for sharing your student with me. These kids are so smart, inquisitive, and eager to learn. This has been my favorite group of students I have taught in my career. I appreciate your trust in me as you let me teach them something that had never been done before last year and now you are doing the same this year. They really are a special group and I enjoy having them!
