CSHS Weekly Bulletin
For the week of September 14-19
Week in Review
picture day - tuesday
On Tuesday, September 15, we will have picture day in the small gym for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors during social studies classes. Seniors will have their make up day on Monday, September 14, in the LGI.
If you would like a different picture from your ID picture in the yearbook, or if you missed ID picture day during staff development and would like to be in the yearbook, please come to the gym during your conference period.
Also, if you have a child at CSHS and would like a discount on your pictures, forms will be available on the counter in front of the staff mailboxes.
Fire Drill Part II - Thursday
We will try again to have our first fire drill of the year this Thursday. We are once again, tentatively scheduled for 5th period. Be on the lookout for text messages and/or emails with further instructions.
Please make sure you show and review the fire drill video again some time this week prior to Thursday.
Also, please know our students will respond based on our level of commitment to making these run smoothly. Students should be silent when exiting the building and while lined up outside waiting for the all clear. Teachers must bring their emergency folders (with rosters and red/green cards inside) out for the drill.
If you have a conference period during this time, Mrs. Rodgers will get with you regarding stairwell duty for our students who cannot use the elevator/stairs during a drill.

- Two additional teachers will be selected for the Award for Outstanding Early-Career Teaching, which recognizes exemplary contributions of humanities teachers in Texas elementary, middle, and high schools who have completed three or fewer years of teaching.
- All award winners will receive a $5,000 prize, with an additional $500 for their schools to purchase humanities-based instructional materials.

School Spirit - Advocate Contest - Wednesday, September 23rd
Make sure you show the Fight Song and Alma Mater videos during Advocate so the students can learn them. For teachers new to our campus, our students sing the Alma Mater after every game...it is quite an amazing sight to see!
Be creative and see how you can get kids to learn the words so they are ready to go for our first pep rally on Friday, September 25th.
We will have a sing-off for every Advocate class that wishes to participate on Wednesday, September 23rd. Details on prizes, etc. are forthcoming but start preparing and practicing now! (Props, etc. are encouraged!)
open house - monday, oct. 5th
PSAT/ ELA I EOC - Wednesday, Oct. 14th
The PSAT and 9th Grade English 1 EOC Practice Test will be administered on Wednesday, October 14th. All administrators, teachers, and instructional aides will be assigned a duty on this day. If you know you are not going to be here that day, please put your absence in AESOP ASAP. I need all hands on deck so please do not make appointments for that day now that you know we are testing on October 14th.
MANDATORY Test Administrator Training will be held on Thursday October 8th, at 7:30AM and 4:05PM in the LGI.
DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Content Mastery
Remember that ANY student is able to receive help in content mastery. Teachers can start sending students down to room 1046 after instruction (with a Content Mastery pass). Please send any supplemental aides or resources students may need to complete an assignment with them when they come.
Questions? See/email Coach Walsh.
OTHER REMINDERS
Please be reminded that lesson plans are to be posted in Eduphoria/Forethought by 8:00 AM every Monday.
Have you sent your first parent email out? If so, thank you! If not, please remember to do so at least once every two weeks. If you are having issues with the system, please let us know so we can assist you.
Leadership Team will NOT meet this week due to our monthly faculty meeting.
Please be reminded that all teachers are expected to be outside their classroom doors to help monitor hallways during transition times. A small thing like staff visibility has a tremendous impact on student decision-making.
We will have our CSHS Parent Open House on Monday, October 5th, beginning at 6:30 PM. A modified bell schedule with 8 minute classes and 5 minute passing periods will be used. More information and a bell schedule will be delivered as the event nears.
Are you a club sponsor? Please let Mrs. Costenbader know when you will be meeting so it can be posted in the Daily Announcement. Please plan initial meetings within the first three weeks of school so we can get students involved early.
Workroom volunteers are available to assist with copying/laminating request. Request forms can be located in the workroom (rm. 1039). Submit requests to the appropriate bin in the workroom and requested jobs will be returned upon completion.
To have your teacher website linked to our campus site or if any of the information listed on the Staff Directory page is incorrect, please complete this form. Randi Costenbader will get it updated ASAP.
