Peace, Passion, Purpose
“We are of course a nation of differences. Those differences don’t make us weak. They’re the source of our strength.” – Jimmy Carter
From Michelle
Please make sure you have signed up for your Partnership meeting with the teachers for next week. This is a time for a short check in with regards to your child's full development. The emphasis currently for all of our students is the social and emotional. As you know, while academics are important, the development of the whole child is the priority.
Speaking of the development of the whole child, we recognize the importance of children being able to "see themselves" in the individuals we study and the history we teach. A student mentioned to me the other day that they felt, as a school, we do not talk enough about LGBTQ+ individuals or talk about topics pertaining to our LGBTQ+ community. I shared with the student that our Lower Elementary classes were introducing the books below some of which center on topics relating to LGBTQ+ individuals. I asked them if there were books that they would like to bring for us to have in classrooms and hopefully they will share more titles with us. In the meantime, we encourage you to explore these books listed below as well.
This past week, California signed into law, that Ethnic Studies is now a required course for all high school students. This is a huge step forward. It is understood that we must understand the past in order to change the future. Although Eagle Peak is not a high school and we certainly would not approach the level of curriculum offered in a high school, we hope that we are at least introducing topics of equity and providing a more realistic look at history to our students as well. Eagle Peak Montessori is fortunate to be a school of choice for families like yours that seek this type of education for your child as well. As I have said before, thank you for sharing this work with us.

News from CFEP
Hello from CFEP!
We have heard you loud and clear: YOU WANT TO BUY LOGO GEAR!
Since we can't offer purchases in person on campus this year, we have set up a new system for ordering your favorite EPMS gear online for quick pick-up in front of the school. You can start ordering TODAY Friday, October 15th! Here is the link to our EPMS logo store: https://epms-cfep.square.site/s/shop
Orders will be able to be picked up outside the school office on specific days (approximately every two weeks) during school pick-up. To ensure a safe pick-up so that there is no crowding at the pick-up station, the first pick up will be split into two days by family name. A-K will be picked up on October 26th, and L-Z will be picked up on October 28th. We will be offering the same special pricing that we had at the picnic, so it's a great time to stock up. Here is what we have available:
EPMS Hooded Sweatshirts
EPMS T-Shirts
EPMS Polo Shirts
EPMS Car Magnets
EPMS Hats
EPMS Water Bottles
COMING SOON: EPMS Masks
Please note that we may have limited stock in certain sizes and styles, but we will be looking for pre-order information for the next batch of items soon.
Please contact Laura Desautels at laura@cfep.us or Megan Daoudi at megan.daoudi@gmail.com with any questions regarding this process, and thank you for your support!
Come join us for our upcoming CFEP board meeting this Monday night, October 18th at 7pm!
MEETING LINK HERE: http://meet.google.com/ici-wsfc-rrq
We welcome any and all parents and community members to come and join us! We are looking for people with ideas and passion! Our meetings operate a bit differently than the School Board meetings, since you aren't limited to a public comment time. We speak freely, share ideas, and hopefully make connections to those ideas with parents that are willing to help!

A Few Reminders:
Covid Testing- Please note that we must receive the results of a Covid- 19 PCR test. We cannot accept the results of a rapid test. Thank you for your help with this.
We cannot allow childcare pick up between 3p-3:30p. Amy and Leslie are not in the office due to carpool pick up.
Sometimes it may be quicker and easier to walk in and pick up your kids at their classroom if there is parking.
Please remember to send a water bottle with your child's name on it to school with them. They can refill them in the classrooms and the drinking fountain if they run out.
If you need to pick up your child early, please email both the office (Admin@eaglepeakmontessori.org) and the classroom (all email addresses are located in the Parent and Student Handbook located in Transparent Classroom). This will be a great help as the teachers are planning their lessons.
As you have noticed, we now have Upper El students assisting with afternoon carpool. It would be helpful to have your childs name printed on an 8 1/2 inch X 11 inch paper so the Upper El students can see the name they need to call. (EPMS Handbook for Parents and Students/Section 2.D.2.) The paper can be placed on the dashboard. If you already do this, thank you so much.
Carpool Help
If you would like to help out with morning or afternoon carpool, please contact Jen Slattengren.
Please remember you must be vaccinated to volunteer at EPMS.
News from PTLG
EPMS Yearbook Committee: The EPMS yearbook is created each school year by a fun group of parent volunteers who are dedicated to creating a yearbook full of wonderful memories for Eagle Peak students. We are always looking for volunteers to join the team! Some of the volunteer opportunities include helping organize yearbook activities, taking photographs of class and school events, designing yearbook pages, and so much more. If you are interested or have questions about joining our fun group of parents, please email Jennifer Womble and Rachel Hallquist at ptlg@eaglepeakmontessori.org
Also, in order to volunteer on campus you must be vaccinated and finger printed.
Don't forget about Box Top$ for Education!
Remember to gather your Box Tops for Education.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Buy participating products and use the Box Tops mobile app to scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchase. The app identifies eligible products and automatically adds Box Tops to Eagle Peak's earnings online. Even if you’re shopping online or doing grocery pickup, you can still submit your e-receipts and earn Box Tops. Your earnings may seem small, but they really do add up. The more people that participate, the bigger the impact we can make. Learn more about how Box Tops works at BTFE.com.
