A Message from the media center
Dear Parents,
The York Innovation Academy media center is preparing for a busy year in the library. Lots of exciting things are happening! Soon students will come independently to check out books on our computerized library system. In addition, they come to do research, listen to literature, operate and appear on the morning show, access the Internet, hear authors talk about their books and illustrations, and participate in many other exciting activities.
To implement such a diverse program, parent/grandparent volunteers play an extremely important role. If you enjoy working with children and doing a variety of jobs, then you’ll LOVE working in our media center! We need volunteers to help with checkout and shelve books, perform clerical tasks, help with art projects, smile, and have great fun with our children and staff.
If you’d like to help, please click on the link below. As I prepare to open, I will take the list of names, and create a schedule and contact you via email. Remember, you have to complete the online volunteer form.
Thank you so much for your support. Remember, any amount of time you can volunteer will be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Valerie Service, media specialist, at (813)533-2400 ext. 228 or email me @Valerie.Service@hcps.net
Congratulations!

Mrs. Turner
Hello Admiral Families! My name is Christina Turner and I am so happy to have the opportunity to work with York’s amazing 4th and 5th grade ESE students. This is my 16th year as an educator and I feel so lucky to work alongside such a wonderful staff which includes my husband, Mr. Turner (our school’s science guy.)Together we have three boys: Caleb and Tyler, 10, and Jason, 18–a freshman at UCF. Outside of work, I love cheering on my alma mater the Florida Gators, cooking, shopping at Target, going to the beach, and being outnumbered by our house full of boys (even the dog!) I look forward to getting to know all our wonderful families!
