Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been lovely to see the children enjoying the sunshine this week and to see so many signs of Spring.

There has been lots of amazing science going on at Kirk Fenton this week as we have celebrated British Science Week. It has been a joy to see the enthusiasm and passion on display as the children have found out about the world around them. We definitely have some future scientists in the making.

We were delighted that our Y6 children, after a year missed to the pandemic, were able to take part in NYCC Bikeability training course. They had a fantastic time learning these key life skills of staying safe on the roads. The instructors were very complimentary about their mature attitude.

We are overwhelmed with your generosity in donating money and goods for the Ukraine appeal. The children looked fabulous today in their yellow and blue and showed great understanding for this cause. Money is still coming in so we will confirm the total next week. Thank you to everyone for your support.

Thank you to Friends for organising bag2school and for all the bags brought in. We are very appreciative of the work Friends do to raise valuable funds for our school.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Becca Cameron

Assistant Head Teacher

Sickness and Upset Stomach

Please can we remind all parents/carers that if a child has suffered from a bout of sickness or an upset stomach, they must be off school for 48 hours from the last episode. This is in line with NHS guidance. Thank you.

Message from the Head Boy and Head Girl

This week some of the Year 6s have really enjoyed bikeability. We are overjoyed to see so many donations come in for Ukraine.

The head girl award went to Albie from Bears

Winning Team

Well done to Amelia and Sam and their team the Orange Spitfires for their win this week.

Times Tables Rock Stars

Wow! We've seen a huge jump in the amount of children on TTRS and Numbots! This league is really bringing out the competitive side of pupils (and teachers!). This week Tigers had the highest percentage of children on, with Jaguars in second and Bees in Third. Currently Tigers sit top on the table, with Bees, Jaguars and Earthworms all hot on their tails! Our winners of the certificates this week were: George in Tigers, Sam in Sharks, Ella in Earthworms, Freya in Jaguars, and Liam in Wolves.

Numbots

It has been lovely to see some different names at the top of our class leader boards this week and I know that teachers have been impressed by the improvement in some children's maths skills. Well done if you have worked on Numbots this week. Special congratulations go to Bertie M, Zara and Tom O for their hard work. Make sure you are remembering to practise and next week it could be you!

Staff Thank You's

If anyone would like to say thank you to or has any positive comments for a member of staff then please complete and submit the form below.

We hope you enjoyed all the books you read!

Thank you too for the Bags 2 School donations today. A nice healthy pile of bags was gratefully received and we have raised £84.

We are working on a “Yes” day where children will be able to do things like crazy hair, face paint, non uniform and other fun things on the last day of this term (8th April). So pop that in the diary and we’ll send more details once the list of things that are allowed are agreed by the head girl and boy!

To celebrate the Jubilee, Friends will be coordinating a commemorative printed tea towel where the children can draw themselves and all the images will be printed - we’ll share details of how to pre-order these in the coming weeks. Ideal keepsakes or presents for family! So don’t be shy in ordering!

Thanks again from all at Friends of Kirk Fenton - your support is very much appreciated
