A Message From Mrs. Jackson
Dear HFCS Families,
Our second week back at school was wonderful. Students participated in many spirit-building activities: our Welcome Back Prayer Assembly, “Stop, Drop, and Read” with reading buddies, a variety of dress-up days, as well as Friday afternoon’s Fun in the Field events. We loved seeing so many smiling faces and so much enthusiasm. Yay, Grizzlies!
Check Out Our School!
We are very excited to welcome families to attend our Get the Scoop/Parent Orientation evening this Thursday evening. The schedule will be as follows:
6:00 - 6:20 pm: Division One classroom presentations
6:25 - 6:45 pm: Presentations/Introductions in gym
6:50 - 7:10 pm: Division Two classroom presentations
7:10 - 7:30 pm: Ice cream and Clean-up
Fire Evacuation Drills this Week:
Throughout the year, we conduct training drills to help prepare students and staff for possible emergency situations. These exercises prepare students and staff to act quickly and help to minimize a child’s fear during a real emergency. In the next few weeks, we will be practicing our emergency evacuation drills. If you require more information about our emergency procedures, please do not hesitate to call the school.
Toonies for Terry:
Next Monday, we will be participating in the Terry Fox Run. We do this every year in order to support the Terry Fox Foundation raising money for cancer research. Our Holy Family goal is for every student to show their support by bringing a Twoonie to school and participating in the Terry Fox run next week.

We want to make sure everyone stays safe when dropping off or picking up students. Here are some important rules to follow:
Parking and Safety: It's very important to be safe when you park your vehicle. Please remember:
- You can park in the drop-off lane, but don't go past the barrier sign (look at the picture for reference).
- Traffic goes both ways on the south side of the building.
- When dropping off, use angle parking only.
Longer Stays: If you need to stay longer, please find a parking spot at the back of the building. Don't use the accessible parking spots unless you have a permit.
Permit Use: Only people with permits can use the accessible parking spots. Others may be fined or have their vehicles towed.
Speed Limit: When you're in a school zone, remember the speed limit is a maximum of 30 km/h to keep everyone safe.
Thank you for following these rules to help ensure everyone's safety. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
School Council
Did you know that Holy Family Catholic School has a dedicated group of parents who provide advocacy and fundraising support for the school? Meetings are held monthly at the school on the second last Monday of each month from 6:30-830pm. The first meeting is Sept 18th. Many hands make light work, so we appreciate as much or as little of your time you are able to volunteer. For more information on the meetings, email us at hfcschoolcouncil@gmail.com.
Drop off and Pick Up
Our school day begins promptly at 8:25 am and concludes at 3:10 pm. Please note that there is no supervision for students outside of these hours, and they should not be left unattended in the school or playground. We kindly request parents' support in ensuring their children arrive at school on time and are picked up or bussed home promptly at the end of the school day.
Sacramental Preparation at Holy Family Parish
Sacramental Preparation at Holy Family Parish 2023-2024
Registration is now open for Sacramental Preparation
First Reconciliation/First Eucharist
Children who have been baptized in the Catholic faith are eligible to prepare for First Reconciliation/First Eucharist (age seven). Information and registration forms can be found on the parish website at https://holyfamily.caedm.ca/ Select “Sacraments” then select “Reconciliation.” Please be sure to read the parent information letter. There will be an important parent meeting in September.
Confirmation
Children may prepare for Confirmation (age eleven) if they have also received First Reconciliation/First Eucharist. Information and registration forms can be found on the parish website at
https://holyfamily.caedm.ca/ Select “Sacraments” then select “Confirmation.” There will be an important parent meeting in September.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)
A warm invitation to “no strings” inquiry sessions into the Catholic faith and community
is extended to anyone interested in becoming Catholic. This includes adults who have never been baptised, those who have been baptised in another Christian tradition, or those who have been baptised Catholic but have not yet received Holy Communion or Confirmation.
If you have questions, please contact the parish office at 780-459-3694.
Adhering to Bill 201 – Protection of Students with Life-Threatening Allergies Act, all students with a serious or life-threatening medical condition must have a form on file in the school office indicating the condition and procedure in case of emergency.
To provide a safe and caring school for our students who have allergies, we require the cooperation of our families. We have students with severe life-threatening food allergies (anaphylaxis) to peanuts and all nut products. Please DO NOT send any items containing peanut butter or nut products in your child’s lunch or for classroom treats.
Children with allergies requiring an epi-pen MUST carry it with them at all times. It is the parents’ responsibility to inform the school of allergies and ensure that their child’s epi-pen has not expired.
