Tiger Tracks
January, 2017
Principals Message
We have officially reached the halfway point for the 2016 – 17 school year! Every year the time seems to go faster and faster and I find myself often wondering where does the time go? For our Seniors (The Class of 2017) the march to graduation is picking up speed! This is the time to make sure all of the finishing touches are being put on their high school career as well as reflect upon all that they have accomplished during their time at YCHS.
Many of our graduates have been with us for all 13 years of their education and some have joined us somewhere along the way. Each and every one of them have made a lasting mark on our high school and we are forever grateful for their contributions. For the rest of our student body the march to graduation continues and second semester is no time to let off the gas! This is a good opportunity for you as parents to take stock of your students progress with regard to credit attainment, as well as essential skill requirements that students need in order to graduate when the time comes. You will find with your report card a credit attainment check sheet that I highly encourage you to pay close attention to and to review with your YC student.
During the month of March we will begin our forecasting process for the 2017 – 18 school year. Students will be conducting their forecasting during their advisory period with the assistance of the counseling department, as well as their advisory teacher. We are very excited about many of our offerings for next year that include the addition of Rocketry, Journalism, and Mock Trial to name a few as well as the continued expansion of the Yamhill Carlton Career Academy.
We are also incredibly fortunate to be offering a wide range of dual credit options through our Willamette Promise and College Credit Now partnerships. The robust offerings we are so fortunate to have can go a long way in getting your YC student on the right track with regards to college credit attainment for very little cost. If you are interested in hearing more about our dual credit options, please fill free to contact me or the counseling department and we would be happy to share all of these fantastic opportunities!
As the sun begins to peek out from behind the clouds we will have many exciting activities and athletic events during the spring that we invite you to come out and support! please continue to check the athletic website as well as my principal page for upcoming events and all that is happening at Yamhill Carlton High School!
Thank you for your continued support of our school community. I am honored to serve as your High School Principal.
Go Tigers!

If you have questions regarding academic eligibility, contact Athletic Director Matt Wiles at 503-852-7600.
FORECASTING FOR 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR
Students will begin the process of forecasting their classes for the 2017-2018 school year in the next few months. Forms will be completed with the assistance of their advisory teacher and turned into the Counseling Office. Our 2016-2017 curriculum guide is available on the YCHS website or in the counseling office. Our 2017-2018 catalog will be posted as soon as it is completed. You will find a list of diploma requirements by graduation year, a list of required courses by grade level, a course request form by grade level and a catalog of our course offerings including a description of the class curriculum.
The responsibility for course selection rests with the student and his/her parents, guided by counselors and advisory teachers. Please contact our counseling office at 502-852-7609 if you have any questions or would like additional information about your students placement. Students are given the opportunity to change their schedule prior to each term. Student schedules will be available on Registration Day in August.

You’ll help them: research and apply to colleges; find scholarships; and explore careers.
No experience is required and thorough training is provided.
