The Acts of Kindness Challenge Continues facilitated in High School by Mrs. Satterfield
In January Middle School teachers challenged their students to be kind with the Acts of Kindness Challenge. High School students were in the middle of EOCs. To give them a chance to focus on kindness Mrs. Satterfield visited each high school environment to present the Acts of Kindness Challenge. If you have not, please register your class for the Acts of Kindness Challenge by clicking here. There are a variety of activities in the toolkit to share with students and families.

Children's Hope Alliance
Did you know that Children’s Hope Alliance offers both Outpatient Therapy and Day Treatment Services here on the Pressly Campus?
Outpatient Therapy is provided on campus by Audra Kuchenbecker, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She currently travels between Pressly and some other schools in the ISS district to provide on-site therapy to students and their families. She is on the Pressly campus two days per week. Outpatient therapy is a low cost service, and CHA takes the following insurance: Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, NCHC. There is a sliding scale fee for parents who don’t have insurance or can’t afford their insurance copays. Referrals can come from the students themselves, parents, teachers, etc.
Day Treatment is an enhanced service, that provides therapy and behavioral support to children who have significant mental health or behavioral problems in the school setting. Day Treatment provides individual therapy, family therapy, case management and care coordination, and crisis response services to those who qualify to be in the program. It is a 6-8 month long program, and it also runs throughout the summer in the form of a “summer camp”. Referrals to Day Treatment typically come from schools, parents, therapists, group homes, and other mental health professionals. In order to qualify for Day Treatment, a student must meet Medicaid medical necessity rules. Day Treatment is only open to students who have Medicaid or NC Health Choice insurance plans.
If you feel you have a student that would benefit from any of our Mental Health services here on campus, please feel free to refer them by filling out a referral form at the front desk in the office.
Also, if you would like help navigating or understanding the mental health system for a student, please see Michelle Benton, Day Treatment Program Director, who would be happy to help.
All the best!
