Math & Science Updates
October Edition
Problem Based Learning
This edition will focus on a type of instruction known as problem based learning (PBL). This pedagogy can be incorporated into not only math and science but all subjects. PBL is a student centered pedagogy in which students learn about a subject through the expeience of solving an open ended problem. Not only do the students learn about the content, they also learn thinking strategies. Many times teachers steer away from incorporating problem based learning due to time constraints but this strategy can also be applied to a lesson not just a unit.
