Build Skills Every Day: Fall

Take advantage of fall to help your child build early literacy skills.

  • Talk: Talk about the changing weather and season. There are so many wonderful words to describe the beauty of fall-see how many you can use!
  • Sing: Listen to music with the children in your life and sing along.
  • Read: Make a habit of reading every day.
  • Write: Singing a rhyme like the Itsy Bitsy Spider with hand motions helps your child develop manual dexterity--which is important as they get ready to write.
  • Play: Fall is a great season to imagine the coming year.

Not Just Books!

Looking for something new to add to the toy rotation? In addition to our Play & Learn Boxes, we have a growing collection of early learning toys and games. For more information, email jknight@coosbaylibrary.org or check out the list in our online catalog.
