Setting "Stretch Goals" at Our Career Center

In an effort to challenge our students to set and exceed their own expectations, we set goals that are not only connected to the curriculum, but connected to their own learning. These Goal Setting Techniques resonate with our daily interactions with students and tie directly into our curriculum and work-based learning expectations. The list consist of six major goals that can and should be the driving force to reaching and even exceeding our goals.

1. Start Early and Take Your Time;

2. Keep it Simple;

3. Tap Into Dreams;

4. Make Goal-Setting Visual;

5. Set stretch goals;

6. Imagine the goal and the hurdles

As we transition into the final week before Summer break, we want to emphasize the importance of "Goal Setting" with our graduating Seniors and know that they are leaving our campuses:

Career Week at Ascarate and Riverside Middle School

On Monday, May 23 our students visited with both Ascarate Elementary and Riverside Middle School in anticipation of their Career Week's. This has and continues to be a driving force in our community and district. The importance of College and Career Readiness at our schools starts at the elementary level. This includes the support we have in each program of study and the opportunities we can afford our students.

#WhiteBoardWednesdays at Our Career Center

Every Wednesday Our Career Center will provide a 2-3 minute video presented by instructors and/or students discussing: How To's, Look For's, What Happens If, and so much more. These video segments will air every Wednesday on social media via our @OurCareerCenter account at 8:30. We are excited to extend our digital footprint and showcase our students and instructors.

This week we had Preston and Carlos from Ysleta High School in Auto-Collision discussing headlight restoration! We did transition over to TwitterAds in order to add our Youtube video in the [embedded] video for promotional purposes of our Career Center. Give it a look!

Guest Speakers in Architecture from CEA Engineering Group

We always appreciate our guest speakers. These individuals are from CEA Engineering Group. 2 of these professionals are ex-students from @OurCareerCenter from 2015 and 2016.

In turn, a Junior in the Architecture program, Marco Vargas just got a job offer from CEA Engineering! He starts next week as a civil engineering design technician!

We love to have former students stop by and visit with us and speak to our students.
