SKI & SNOWBOARD CLUB
The snow has started to fall, and it is time to sign up for the Ski and Snowboard Club! Spend each Wednesday evening skiing or boarding at Pine Knob - $210 gets your student 6 weekly lift tickets (1/4 ; 1/11 ; 1/18 ; 2/1 ; 2/8 ; 2/15), a discount membership card (which will get you $30 tickets M-F all season long) and 20% of food and drinks on Wednesday evenings. Parent / guardian discount memberships are available too! The November 30th registration deadline is fast approaching. ROHS SCHEDULING INFORMATION
While the work of addressing the current needs of our students and families continues, we have not lost sight of preparing for the 2023-2024 school year. This year's scheduling day will be on Friday, December 9th. It's important that all students are in attendance. Please help to get your student to school on that date.
Leading up to scheduling day, students will have the opportunity to meet with department leaders to ask questions about on-campus and off-campus opportunities. Please CLICK HERE for more information.

If you would like to have your child participate in this program, please fill out this form. Be sure to indicate if you child has any food allergies. If your child has a food allergy, you as the parent are responsible for checking all food labels when the food arrives home. Royal Oak Schools, as well as Blessings in a Backpack, will not be held responsible for any accidental food allergen exposure.
MISTAR GRADEBOOK
As a reminder, MiStar is the official gradebook and Parent(s)/Guardian(s) can go to the MiStar Parent Portal to see up-to-date grades for their child. If you have any questions about your child's progress or would like to meet with your child's teacher, please connect with them directly to schedule a conference time. (ROHS Staff Directory)
ECF CHROMEBOOKS
Parent(s)/Guardian(s) can complete the ECF Chromebook Request Form in order to get a Chromebook for a student. Please make sure to read the request/commitment form carefully. Chromebooks will be delivered to ROHS toward the end of each week.

MATH TUTORING
ROHS will offer free math tutoring provided by the math department for any ROHS student enrolled in: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Daily Math Tutoring Schedule.
CREDIT RECOVERY 22/23
Credit Recovery is an opportunity for students to make up credit for graduation. Classes are $200 per class. Credit Recovery meets Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in the Learning Commons from 3:15 - 5:15 each week. Please see the attached link for sign up information.
ROHS CANVAS COMMUNITY PAGE
Royal Oak High School has created an ROHS Canvas Community page/course. This page houses different resources which includes, but is not limited to support contacts, wellness resources, career and testing information, scholarships and counseling information. Canvas works in conjunction with MiStar. On your student’s schedule you’ll notice it’s 10th period. Students do not need to do anything for this page/course. It is another way to give students the resources that they need.NEW - Career Pathway Presentations: Sign up will be required for each presentation.
November 29, 2022 - MiWorks! will be here for a presentation 3rd hour. A question many students encounter is, “What careers are available?” This presentation will help you articulate an answer to that question by introducing you to the concept of career exploration. Michigan Works! staff will demonstrate practical activities that you can do to support the ongoing career exploration process. During this session you can begin to identify what occupations that may be of interest to you that are considered relevant in today’s economic market. (Recommended for 11th and 12th grade) (FILL OUT SIGN UP LINKED ABOVE BY NOVEMBER 25, 2022 @ 3:00pm)
DECEMBER TBD - LiUna! Enrollment will be open to current Juniors and Seniors. Presentation give information on the free program to learn Construction Craft Labor Skills and Industry Recognized Certifications.
JANUARY 10, 2023 - COREWELL HEALTH (formerly Beaumont Health) will be here for a presentation 3rd hour. What options are there for a job in Health Care? How to get started at Corewell.
APRIL 26 or 27, 2023 - MICHIGAN CONSTRUCTION CAREER DAY Fantastic opportunity to explore all that the construction industry can offer you as a future career. Keep an eye out for more events to be added and if any changes occur!

10th and 11th Grade Students: College Board Student Search Service
The College Board's Student Search Service is a free, voluntary program that connects students with information about educational and financial aid opportunities from nearly 1,900 eligible colleges and universities, and scholarship and other educational programs.
- By opting into the Student Search Service and completing the optional questionnaire, students are allowing the College Board to share personal information, such as college preferences and plans for the future, with colleges and scholarship organizations.
- Colleges and universities that match the student’s academic interests
- Financial aid and scholarships, helping deserving students to access the assistance they are eligible to receive
- Academic majors, courses, and degree options
Go to http://studentsearch.collegeboard.org and login using your College Board student account information.
- Create a College Board student account, if necessary.
- Select Connect Now and follow the prompts.
- Students can complete the online option and update their information at any time.

ASVAB
This is a great test for all students to take. Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a well-respected aptitude test that measures a young adult’s strengths and potential for success in a multitude of careers. After completion of the test students will receive a detailed report of careers, skills, and strengths they have. This test can help students discover career paths that will fit their skills and strengths. The ASVAB is also required for all Military branches, therefore, if you are a student considering the military please sign-up.
The test will be during the school day on November 23, 2022 from 7:55 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. To sign up please fill out the following Google Form : ASVAB Sign-Up
