Field Flash
April 19, 2021
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
We hope that you and your family have had a nice week! Our students in grades 3-5 will continue the state assessment called the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), so families, please be sure to review information below in this newsletter.
Calendar Update
As you read in an email from Dr. Olson on April 15th, Monday, May 3rd is now a teacher remote learning planning day with no student attendance. Thank you for marking your calendar with this updated information.
Mask Wearing, Social Distance
- As Dr. Olson shared via email, it is important for us to remain vigilant in our mask wearing and social distancing. Please review proper mask wearing with your child(ren), ensuring they know and understand the importance of keeping the mask over their nose and mouth. Also, please be sure masks remain on (children and adults) during arrival and dismissal. Please also maintain social distance during these times. We appreciate your continued support!
Attendance
- As a reminder, it will be important to attend in-person if that's what you've selected. If your child is ill, please do continue to have them remain home and call the office. If you leave a voicemail, please leave details about your child's absence or illness symptoms. This information will help us determine whether your child is absent, should log on remotely, and/or may need to quarantine. We'll help guide you through the next steps, including access to remote instruction when necessary. Detailed voicemails help us move through this process more quickly. Again, most of the time, our in-person students will be learning in-person unless the absence is COVID-related.
We hope that you and your family have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney Goodman
Principal
Park Ridge-Niles School District 64’s mission is as follows:
Inspire every child to discover, learn, achieve, and care.
In-Person Learning Reminders
- Our 3 Ws: wear a mask, watch your distance, and wash your hands.
- Please have children wear a mask and bring an extra in their backpack.
- Please review arrival and dismissal information below.
- Please be sure students bring their school device (ipad or chromebook) with them to school FULLY CHARGED.
- Students should wear their lanyards each day to signal their health has been verified by an adult. New in-person students will receive their lanyards on their first day of in-person attendance.
- Please be sure that if your child is in 2nd/5th/3rd Lehr/Balogi they are bringing their beach towel in a labeled bag. They can leave the labeled bag/towel at school during the week, taking it home on Fridays for laundering. The labeled bag helps us stay organized - thank you!
Arrival and Dismissal Information
A few key notes:
- Masks are required while on school grounds during arrival and dismissal.
- Please do leave your furry family members at home for the safety of all. Again dogs can not be on school grounds/sidewalks during arrival or dismissal. Thank you!
- If you are using the "kiss and go" areas, please be sure your child can move quickly in and out of your car. As we welcome back 89% of our students, we anticipate these drop-off areas will be busy places. Please pull to the curb, drop off your child(ren), and plan to pull away. Waiting at the curb to watch your child in line causes traffic congestion. Thank you!
Health Reminders from our District Nurse
In addition, here is information about COVID guidelines and return-to-school information from our District Nurse's office.
Thank you!

Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) - for students in grades 3-5 - Parents can help their child get ready
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness Test, an assessment for all students in Illinois, will be administered in District 64 from April 13-23.
The best preparation for the IAR is classroom instruction provided during the school year. There are also additional things you can also do to promote your child’s success:
Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.
Provide your child with words of encouragement. While we don’t want our students to feel anxious about any assessment, we do want them to do their best.
Please make sure your child remembers to bring earbuds to school.
The IAR is an online assessment and students will be using their Chromebooks and earbuds to complete these tests. Please make sure your child brings his or her Chromebook to school fully charged.
If you would like to learn more about the IAR tests, sample tests are available for your review. Thank you for your support in helping your child be prepared for upcoming testing.
Below is our school’s schedule for test administration:
April Yearbook Submission-Quote for Contribution Fundraiser: PEOPLE are PROUD of you!
This past year has been challenging and different for everyone. But we surely can agree, our Field students have taken everything with great stride, strength and perseverance, as we all pioneered through the unknown. For the month of April, being our last monthly yearbook submission for 2020-2021, we will be offering the opportunity for parents and staff to write up a quote for their students for a small contribution as a fundraiser for Field school. All you have to do is connect into Revtrek under “Yearbook Donation Form” and provide a small donation (min $25) where you can provide a short few words and sentences of encouragement/gratitude & pride toward your students/children for a job well done this year!
https://fieldschoolpto.revtrak.net/Yearbook-Donation-Form/#/list
Due to the large number of families at Field school, we ask that each family write only ONE quote/message to encompass all their children at the school. We will be allowing an exception for the 5th grade families, whom for an additional $5 can provide a goodbye message with words of wisdom and excitement as their 5th grader takes flight from Field school into Middle school!
We are certain the kids will be very excited to see these surprise messages in this year’s yearbook.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to reach out to cheryludzielak@gmail.com or fieldschoolyearbook@gmail.com
Thank you for an extraordinary year of picture submissions. We have a fun, full book because of it!
Sincerely,
The Yearbook Team
