Community Engagement Opportunities

Get Up and Get Moving - Tuesday, February 16th and Thursday, February 18th

Volunteers are needed to help with Get Up and Get Moving on February 16th and 18th. Get Up and Get Moving is a healthy kids' initiative that takes place in two local elementary schools once a month and is focused on educating children about healthy and active lifestyles. Volunteers will help facilitate fun games and activities, educate children on special health topics, and serve as positive role models by interacting with children throughout the event.


If you would like to sign up for the event, please use the OrgSync links below. All event times include travel to and from schools. A carpool will be arranged for transportation, and those who wish to drive are encouraged to do so. We hope you will join us for the fun and games, and your help is greatly needed and appreciated!

Modern Day Slavery Interest Meeting - Wednesday, February 3rd at 7:00PM

Join the Modern Day Slavery WE LEAD issue team for their first interest meeting in the Center for Community Engagement (located behind the Bobcat Den) to discuss their upcoming projects as well as the issues of slavery, human trafficking, and many other topics.

Animal Welfare Interest Meeting - Wednesday, February 3rd at 8:00 PM

The Animal Welfare WE LEAD issue team will be having their first interest meeting of the semester in the Center for Community Engagement. Join them to learn about their projects, the issues facing animals today, and how you an become involved as an Animal Shelter Volunteer.

Gender Equality Interest Meeting - Thursday, February 4th at 7:00 PM

The Gender Equality WE LEAD issue team will be showing the Disney Movie Mulan at their first interest meeting in Hyma auditorium. Join them to learn about gender stereotypes and the gendered issues faacing women and men today.

Humane Lobby Day - Thursday, February 11th at 9:00 AM

The Humane Society will be hosting Humane Lobby Day in at the State Capitol in Charleston, West Virginia.


Sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States in state capitals across the country, Humane Lobby Days give citizen animal advocates like you an opportunity to ask your state legislators to pass laws that protect animals.

What is Humane Lobby Day? It's a one-day event in your state organized by The HSUS where you can meet with your elected officials and their staff about animal protection issues in West Virginia.

Why is your participation in Lobby Day so critical? We know legislators are most motivated when their constituents take time to meet face-to-face. It's your chance to show how much animals mean to you.

REGISTER for the ENGAGE Conference of Leadership for Change TODAY!

Registration for the ENGAGE Conference of Leadership for Change at West Virginia Wesleyan is OPEN! SUMMER SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

AmeriCorps Summer of Service - Horseshoe Leadership Center

AmeriCorps is looking for volunteers for the coming summer to serve as counselors, lifeguards, food service workers, and in facility upkeep at the Horseshoe Leadership Center's summer camp. Volunteers will be engaged from May 24th to July 30th for training and camp work. Volunteers will receive room and board, a weekly living allowance, and an educational stipend. Interested volunteers are encouraged to apply immediately.
