The Spencer Scoop
Spencer Elementary - April 17, 2020
Notes From the Office
Dear Spencer Families,
Here we go!
Next week's focus is- how we learn online. Your child's teacher will be in touch with you to send codes and links to enter their online classroom platform (See-Saw, Google Classroom, Padlet, etc.). They will use next week to connect with your family as to what to expect and help get you connected.
You can expect to receive a link to the Family Weekly Learning Plan, which will layout the weekly activities for the week. You will receive this via email or a link in the weekly correspondence, such as a newsletter each Monday by 9:00.
To help connect with you, each staff member will have Check-in & Connect Times. These are times that the staff will connect with your child, meet in small or large groups via Google Meet, perhaps read a story, or connect with you. Each teacher will have their activities planned, so be sure to check the Family Weekly Learning Plan for the details about what these times will look like. You'll find a picture of Spencer's times below.
Are you looking for sample daily schedules for the learning time at home? If so, we have some examples that you can use or manipulate to fit your needs. You can find these below as well, labeled sample daily schedule.
As always, if you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out. We don't know of the need unless you inform us.
To help, I have created a link to check on you and your family. Please take a minute to let us know how we can help you. https://forms.gle/qCAD2vXddgKtECGD8
Be well and give your child a smile from all of us here at Spencer,
B. Renner

Our goals for the remainder of this school year are as follows:
● All students have a predictable space to connect with teachers/class to meet their individual
and social-emotional needs.
● All students have opportunities for continued learning that focuses on Essential Learnings and minimizes instructional loss.
● Students and families are given predictable routines and structures to ensure they stay
connected to schools and learning.

4th Grade Families -Maltby News
Dear 4th-grade Families,
We are looking forward to having your student join our Maltby Family as a 5th grader for the
2020-2021 school year. One of the exciting parts about Maltby is your child will be able to
choose their Year Long Encore class for the next school year. There are four options to choose
from - BAND, ORCHESTRA, MUSIC or YEAR LONG P.E. We have placed the Encore
choice form on the Maltby website. There are wonderful videos and a description of each class
embedded into the choice form so your child can get an idea of what each class is about.
Please email the Encore teacher if you have any further questions about the class.
How to get to the form:
● Go to www.brightonk12.com
● Click “Select School” on the upper, right-hand side of the page. Select “Maltby
Intermediate” as the school
● Scroll down and on the left-hand side there is a link to click on that says “5th Grade Year
Long Encore Selection 20-21.” Please look carefully and do not select that 6th Grade
link.
● This will bring you to a page that allows you to select another link on the right side of the
page called “5th Grade Year Long Encore Selection 20-21.
● The form that needs to be filled out will show-up. Please submit one choice by April 24th
*Note: if you have more than one 4th grader entering Maltby you will need to submit one form for each child.
Thank you and we look forward to meeting your child in August.
