Growth and Development
Dear Parents/Guardian,
Little Elm ISD has developed a scope and sequence of growth and development and related body changes. The scope and sequence will continue in 5th grade with emphasis on the endocrine and reproductive body systems.
Coordinated health education includes but is not limited to oral hygiene, dental care, nutrition, body changes, physical activity, and many more health related topics. Coordinated health is introduced to students by multiple services such as physical education class, classroom teachers, counselors, and nurses.
We will show growth and development materials to 5th grade students on Friday, March 10th. The girls and boys will view the materials separately. The students will have an opportunity to write down their questions on notecards, and appropriate questions will be answered at the end of the lesson.
Parents may preview the materials:
Puberty Education for Teachers, Students, Parents
Girls: Always Changing and Growing Up - Girls Puberty Education Video
Boys: Always Changing and Growing Up - Boys Puberty Education Video
Please fill out the bottom portion of this letter and return it by 03/09/2023 to your child’s homeroom teacher. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your campus nurse.
