Sometimes when we have big emotions as young people we feel like we are just a scribble in the world but talking about emotions and making connections can help us untangle! That’s what Ethel McKnight Elementary School students did while matching, drawing faces and naming colors!
Grace N. Rogers Elementary School students had a counseling lesson on gratitude and were able to share what they’re grateful for on strips of paper that became a gratitude chain
Hightstown High School Quizbowl
On November 19, the Hightstown High School Quizbowl all junior team of Rohan Vittal, Ezra Nicholson, and Aparajit Kannan attended the Jersey Shore Introductory Tournament at Manasquan High School. In addition, juniors Alex Wong and Aprameya Kannan helped staff, read, and moderate rounds at the competition venue. Twenty-nine teams attended the competition from multiple schools from North, Central, and South Jersey.
We are proud to announce that Hightstown achieved fourth place, and received a trophy for their endeavors! In addition, junior Rohan Vittal earned the distinction of #1 ranked individual player out of 125 students that played at the competition.
The team has also qualified for the Northeast Regional Championships, which is a championship level tournament for teams throughout New England, the New York Tri-State Area, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
Here is the link showing the Hightstown team's inclusion on the championship roster.
The first row, from left to right, consists of Aparajit Kannan (11), coach Benjamin R. Mooney (with the trophy!), and Aprameya Kannan (11). The second row, also from left to right, consists of Rohan Vittal (11), Ezra Nicholson (11), and Alex Wong (11).
26 Pebbles - Hightstown High School Fall Play
On December 14, 2012, the children, parents, and greater community of Newtown, CT experienced the unimaginable at Sandy Hook Elementary School. In the aftermath of that day, the families of that town began a journey to find a way to heal after such a devastating loss.
26 Pebbles documents the story of a community finding hope after tragedy. Comprised of a series of first-hand interviews with parents, faith leaders, civil servants, and other townspeople, the play takes the audience through the trauma and emotions that one community experiences, and how that same community finds love, support, and hope in the other side.
This show contains themes and conversations regarding grief, loss, and trauma. While it does not visually display any scenes of violence, the topic of school violence is strongly present throughout the play. The show may not be suitable for children under 13.
