School Climate Parent Survey

Our Positive Behavior team is collecting information about Millburn Elementary's School Climate. School climate refers to the quality and character of school life. It has been described as "the heart and soul of the school ... that essence of a school that leads a child, a teacher, and an administrator to love the school and to look forward to being there each school day." A positive school climate helps people feel socially, emotionally and physically safe in schools. It includes students', parents' and school personnel's norms, beliefs, relationships, teaching and learning practices, as well as organizational and structural features of the school. According to the National School Climate Council, a sustainable, positive school climate promotes students' academic and social development.

We would like to get your input about our school climate from your perspective. Below is a link to a survey that will help us get your thoughts. It should only take about 5-10 minutes. Your views are very important as we start making decisions about how we can improve.

Thank you!

Special Rotation/Calendar

All K-5 students have Specials every day. Students rotate on a five-day schedule which includes PE, Art, Technology, Music, and another day of PE. We want to provide families with our Specials Calendar so you know what Specials will occur on certain days throughout the year. You can find this information on our website using the link below.

Hot Lunch Procedures

With the transition to PushCoin, our hot lunch procedures have changed. Instead of students handing over a ticket to receive their hot lunch, students will now enter their 5 digit ID number that is assigned to them at Millburn. For the first few months, students will have ID cards in the cafeteria for them to grab and use to input their ID number. It is our goal that students will begin to memorize their numbers and not need the ID tags to use. Kindergarten students will just hand their card over instead of typing them in. We hope that we can transition our KDG students into typing the ID number by mid-year.

Millburn Cross Country, 5th-8th Grade

Boys and girls cross country practice (no tryouts) will begin Monday, Aug. 26th.

Practices will be held at Millburn Middle for the first week. A shuttle bus will be provided for the 5th graders to be transported to the middle school for practice. Practice ends at 4:30.

If you have any questions please feel free to email.

Cross Country – Mrs. Riss–

Students will need to have a current physical on file in the nurse's office to participate in tryouts and practice. The activity fee is $150 (payable after tryouts) An activity bus is also available for the season. Please visit the Millburn website to download the transportation form for the activity bus. Once the transportation form is turned into the office it takes one day to process.
