Dear Parents, Students, and Families,
As a parent, what are some simple facts to know about career and technical education? Have you ever wondered what we do? You are always welcome to make an appointment with us and see firsthand what your child is learning and doing. We also expand your child's options in a number of different ways:
- We show students how reading, math, and science are used in careers by relating academic subjects to the real world.
- We provide college and career prep. Employers today are demanding more knowledge and professional skills and we work closely with post-secondary schools and industries.
- Your child can earn college credits while they are learning. This saves you future college expenses as well as helps students prepare themselves for college-level work.
- We provide students the opportunity to test their career interests before they invest in college.
- Students can earn industry certifications giving them an advantage over their peers post-graduation.
- We challenge your teenager to think, problem-solve, innovate and take risks in their learning to build their self-confidence and skills. These are basic life skills.
- Students can acquire self-confidence, self-awareness, good work habits, reliability and dependability, and practical problem-solving skills. These are all career success skills and are in high demand by employers. Students can feel a sense of accomplishment while they learn and this breeds self-assurance that young people need to achieve their own goals.
