Dear Amesbury Public Schools Families,
I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving Break. Amazingly, we have completed three months of school. In less than a month, it will be 2022! Crazy!
As I reflect upon the time frame between Thanksgiving and the holiday break last year, I remember that we had just returned to school at the middle and high school levels. We returned using a hybrid model, but even that felt great, as it was fantastic to be back in person. During that time period, it was incredibly challenging to navigate the uptick in COVID cases, however, with your support, we were able to do that. If trends follow last year, it is possible that we could see an uptick in cases. To that end, I ask all of you to take the necessary precautions to limit the spread of COVID.
The next couple of weeks will be full of school sponsored activities. It is important to remember that when attending a school event, school rules are in effect. For example, when attending indoor athletic events, it is required that all participants, officials and spectators wear masks. We all want to do our best to help us continue with our normal in-school and co-curricular activities.
I sincerely hope that shortly after the holiday break, we will see a new light at the end of the tunnel. As any new guidance from DESE becomes available, I will be sure to share it with you.
Please continue to do your best to help us keep our students and staff healthy. Students and staff should stay home when they are sick and they should expect a follow up call to gather information on the illness. Thank you for your continued support in this area as we work hard to keep students in school.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth McAndrews
