Pastries with the principal: How to prepare for parent/Teacher Conferences
During today's meeting, Mrs. Lausch provided tips for the parents to get ready for the parent/teacher conferences that are coming soon.
Here are some tips for you:
1: Schedule your Parent/Teacher Conference: Schedule online if you have not already.
2: Prepare for your conference Read the slideshow to learn more.
3: Be present on time or Show up on Zoom at your scheduled time.
Find your teacher's link by clicking the pdf above and join at your time. The scheduled time should be in the confirmation email you received when you submitted your request.
Third Grade Reading Guarantee (3GRG)
Third-grade students will have their 3GRG Test Next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Please avoid planned absences on the mornings of these dates whenever possible:
We can help our kids succeed by making sure they:
--Get plenty of rest,
--Eat a good breakfast,
--Be at school on time (testing starts at 9:00am),
--Bring their Chromebook fully charged with charger cable (and earbuds if you have them), and
--Talk with them about the test each day after school.

Message from Mrs. Lacey - Our School Counselor
Our Grade 5 Services group is collecting leftover candy next week (Oct. 31-Nov.4) to donate to our US troops. If your child has too much candy from trick or treat night OR your family bought too much, please have your child bring it in to school to donate. No worries if your family does not celebrate! We will have many more service opportunities throughout the year. Thanks!

Message from the School Nurse Carpenter -- Columbus Public Health will be at Gables on Monday, October 31 to give flu shots and COVID boosters for students with signed parent permission. Please get your completed consents to school by this Friday, October 28. You can contact Nurse Carpenter with questions or to request a consent form by email at kcarpent@columbus.k12.oh.us.

Join Us Tomorrow! Spruce Run Open House
Columbus City Schools' Spruce Run Environmental Education Center is 50 acres of land near Hoover Reservoir providing a unique place for environmental studies and outdoor learning for all CCS students. The upcoming Open House is a great opportunity for families to come visit the center and explore the great outdoors.
The education center includes two main trails at Spruce Run, a fire circle, and picnic area for families to enjoy as well as special programming and events for students and families throughout the year.

Pathway Express - October "Ohio History Center"
Free Admission to Ohio History Center All October Month Long!
Pathway Express continues this month with the Ohio History Center.
CCS families can visit the Ohio History Center for free throughout ALL of October, including the weekdays (a great idea for this Friday when students are home from school
Upcoming Virtual Family Engagement Session:
CCS hosts weekly Zoom sessions addressing the most pressing topics and answering the most common questions families have. Called Virtual Family Engagement Sessions, these sessions are hosted by the Department of Communications and Engagement and feature expert District staff and many of our community partners sharing information and insights on important topics.

Youth need opportunities for fun, engaging enrichment experiences when school is out. Columbus Recreation and Parks Departmentβs Schools Out program opens recreation centers for extended hours during Columbus City Schools upcoming fall and winter breaks.
