From the Principal...Steve Morrill

Odds and Ends at Thompson:

As the halfway mark of the first quarter quickly approaches, our school community is getting settled in. Part of this process included our Thompson Student Services Team (counselors, social workers, psychologists, clinicians, and administrators) visiting students by grade level. An in person presentation provided the opportunity to put names with faces while also learning how to access any member of the Student Services Team and understanding that the adults at Thompson Middle School are here to support them. If you have any questions regarding your child, please don’t hesitate to contact a member of our Student Services Team.

Last Friday our staff engaged in professional learning focused on multiple student data points. Using both IAR results and i-Ready fall assessments, we identified areas of successes and room for improvement. Based on this data and following best practices approaches, our fabulous teaching teams identified content specific tasks and assessments that will support student growth while aligning to priority standards and building goals. At the content level, these goals are both unit and skill specific and are adjusted as students move through curriculum while gaining aptitudes.

Friday, September 16th is St. Charles East’s homecoming parade, and in several weeks, St. Charles North will be having their homecoming festivities as well. District check-in/check-out procedures are always in place. We prefer that middle school students remain in their classes during these high school activities. If you choose for your child to attend the parade, only you or someone on your child’s emergency contact list will be able to sign out your child with your approval. Please plan ahead! Student safety is our priority!

Busy times at Thompson Middle School. I hope you and yours enjoy this fall weekend!
