Animal Abuse

Be the Voice They Don't Have
Our Cause
Animal Abuse is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Our group is trying to decrease the amount of animals being abused in the U.S. We are attempting to do this, because animal abuse is currently everywhere in the U.S. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), an animal is abused every 10 seconds in the United States. Also, the ASPCA states that 71% of all domestic violence victims reported that their abuser was targeting animals as well. Not only are these animals being tortured and hurt, but they can't speak up or protest against it. They don't have a voice. That's why we are being the voice that they don't have. We are going to come together and rise against animal abuse.
I care about this cause, because one of my dogs was abused. My family has a beagle who was abused by her first owners. She was hit and left alone in a one room for almost the entirety of her first year alive. She was given little food and little attention. She was then dropped off at a local shelter, given up on, and she didn't even know why. We were able to adopt her after she was left at the shelter for a few weeks. It took her a while until she felt comfortable around us. It was very hard to gain her trust, but once she began to trust us, she became a great dog. I have realized and seen first-hand why animal abuse is such a huge problem. The difference between an abused dog, and a non-abused dog is huge. This is why animal abuse is such a big problem.

The Platform
Goal 1 - Edcuate
Our first goal is to educate people on animal abuse. We will do this by holding speeches and marches that show facts and evidence about animal abuse. If people know how bad animal abuse is, they may join or help the cause in someway. This can lead to more people joining marches, protests, and helping us along the way in our journey to stop animal abuse.
Goal 2 - Taking Animals Away From Their Abusers
Our second goal is to take animals away from their abusers. We will do this by trying to investigate any potential animal abuse cases and making sure the authorities are involved. This can lead to many animals having a safe home and family. An abuser can not abuse an animal if they do not have one.
Goal 3 - Funding Animal Shelters
Our third goal is to fund animal shelters. We will do this by raising money with donations and having the proceeds go towards local animal shelters. When we take animals away from abusers, we need shelters so they have a temporary place to stay. This can lead to more animals having a place to stay until they find a forever home.
Goal 4 - Stricter Laws for Animal Abuse
Our fourth goal is to try to persuade government to make stricter laws for animal abuse. This includes any type of animal being hit, or any animal fighting made illegal. We will do this by protesting and using a bottom-up strategy. We will attempt to show government that there needs to be a change. This can lead to less people making loop-holes for any form of animal abuse.
Goal 5 - Harsher Punishments for Animal Abuse
Our fifth and final goal is to have harsher punishments for animal abusers. This includes longer jail time, and more or larger fines. We will do this by protesting and using the bottom-up strategy. This will lead to animal abusers facing tougher punishments that they deserve. This could also potentially lead to people not abusers animals, because they will be afraid of the punishments.
The Methods
Marches
The first method we will use is marches. A march is many people rallying together at a certain place in order to support their cause. A march was used in the CRM in the March on Washington. 250,000 people gathered in front of Lincoln Memorial in order to protest civil rights. This was a huge factor in the civil rights movement. We will use this method by marching in different states and in Washington. This is so we will gain national recognition, and the government will begin to see that there needs to be changed
Speeches
The second method we will use is speeches. A speech is a person or group going in front of an audience and speaking about their cause. This is used to motivate or educate people on a certain cause. In the CRM, this was used when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his I Have A Dream speech. 250,000 gathered in Washington to listen to his speech and it was able to help achieve civil rights laws. We will use this method by motivating people to join our cause. We will also use speeches to educate people about animal abuse. This will cause people to pay attention to our cause, and began to help us by donating or joining our marches.
Exposing
The last method we will use is exposing. Exposing is used by a group or person to show how bad a problem is. This was used in the CRM when Emmet Till was beaten to death for his skin color. He was beaten so badly, that his mother had an open casket funeral to show everyone how bad racism was. This made people realize that there was a real problem at hand. We will use this method to get people to see how bad animal abuse is. We will use pictures and videos of animals being abused to show how violent it can get. This will get people to understand the terror of animal abuse.
