Big picture

Our Little Free Library

Located just outside the school (in the car rider lane) is our "little library" of books for your child. Although this resource is limited and not digital, the Little Free Library is available for those students who like to hold a book while reading! We are monitoring it weekly to add to the box as needed.

Online Research Library: Databases

Your child has access to multiple digital resources on the Online Research Library (ORL). Three of my favorite resources are: BookFLIX, TrueFLIX, and Tumblebooks. These resources provide digital reading of fiction and nonfiction material. Each of these resources, along with many more can be found under DATABASES on the Online Research Library. Your child has to be logged into eClass to use these resources. Then they will click on Online Research Library to go to the databases. Click on ORL Database Tutorial if you want to learn how to navigate this resource.

Online Research Library: Mackin eBooks

MackinVIA houses numerous eBooks for your child to discover and read! These resources can be found under eBooks on the Online Research Library (ORL). Your child has to be logged into eClass to get to eBooks. Almost 5,000 more digital books were added to the collection in the past week. Click on the ORL eBooks Tutorial if you want to learn how to navigate this resource.

New Resources on Your Online Research Library (ORL)

Media Catalog

Students can access eBooks from our media center. To do so, they will log into their eClass page. They will click on Media Catalog under APPS. Once they are directed to Destiny, they will click "log in," which will automatically sign them into the media catalog (since they are already signed into eClass). Scroll down to eBooks and click on view all to see the 276+ books in the selection. Then you may select any book of interest! You can filter your search by genre, author, title, etc. Click on Media Catalog Tutorial to learn how to navigate to this resource.

Of course, the Gwinnett County Public Library has numerous resources available for you, too! Your child's Branch Out Account gives them access to a multitude of online resources. If you need an account, please click on Google doc and complete the form in order for GCPS Media Services to activate your child's account. It takes about 24 hours for the account to be activated.

Also, on the Gwinnett County Public Library page, your child can scroll down the main page, and click on "Digital Resources." Then scroll until you get to e.readkids. Popular books, like Guts and Diary of a Wimpy Kid are available as E-books and e-audiobooks! You can also download an APP called Axis 360 on your device to use these books. To access e.readkids, your child will need to be a part of Branch Out and use his/her student ID number and birthday month/year (MM/DD).

Like the TumbleBook Library, TumbleMath offers a comprehensive collection of math picture books with animation and narration. To reach this resource, click on Gwinnett County Public Library Digital Resources. Then scroll alphabetically to the bottom until you get to TumbleMath. Click on it. Your child will use his/her student number and birthday (MM/DD) to use this resource.

When you find a book YOU love, reading is guaranteed to be relaxing and fun!
