Newsletter Week 9 Term 1

Turua School 31st March 2022

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

A big thank you once again to those families who supported us by keeping their children home to participate in online learning. We are looking forward to being fully staffed tomorrow and having our senior students participate in their Tryathlon.

Great to see that so many of our families are using the new school app. All alerts will be shared through this platform. Click on the link below to download if you do not have it as yet. https://turua.apps.school.nz/share/

Another big thank you to our Pumpkin Festival organisers Anikha Sanders, Estelle Chidley and their helpers. It was a fantastic turnout despite the ever changing COVID restrictions and we really appreciate the hours of work you have put in to making it such a special event.

Last week the school provided each family with a box of masks. If your family did not receive theirs, please contact the school office and we will get them sent home to you.

Pumpkin Festival

WOW what an amazing day we had on Saturday at our pumpkin weigh in, thank you to everyone who came along, and congratulations to all our winners. Check out the earlier posts to see what we got up to. There are still chances to win, our decorated pumpkin and gumboot competitions are still open, and there are still a few raffle tickets available. It's been a very discombobulated week so we will be accepting entries, tickets, and money on Friday morning.

There are even more sponsors who have generously donated prizes for our raffles. We are grateful for their help with Garden to Table so please support them: Wally's Gardening and Health Products (www.0800466464.co.nz) products to keep the garden healthy, Naturo Pharm a homeopathic hamper, Lynda Hallinan a gorgeous bundle of books about everything gardening, Vital Harvest planting by the moon, Ecostore a bucket of ecofriendly goodies.

Garden To Table

This week has just whizzed by. On Saturday we had the big pumpkin weigh in and sold many many cups of the pumpkin soup that the seniors made last week, people were reportedly licking the bowl even! This week our class sessions weren’t running but the team was able to get planning and prep done for next term so we can hit the ground running. We did however have a session where we harvested the seeds from the Fisher family’s winning pumpkins. Come October the seedlings will be sprouting ready for next year! Check out how it went….
