Gators of the Week - Work hard. Get smart. Do good.

Gators of the Week: Men's and Women's Swim Cap Off Undefeated Seasons with Region Titles

Work hard. In fitting fashion our Men's and Women's Swim teams defeat the field at the Region Championship in Irmo to capture the region title for both teams. This win marks six straight for the women and 5 for the men over the past 6 years. Thank you to the seniors for some amazing years of swim and leadership. Now on to the state meet on Saturday at USC.

Gators of the Week: Math Stations Working in Algebra 1

Get smart: Students in Algebra 1 continue to make strides in learning as they group flexibly to gain more understanding about concepts.

Gators of the Week: American Government Students Read Books to Elementary Students

Do good. Students in our American Government classes authored and published children's books to be read to elementary students in the district. What an authentic way to pair literacy and leadership.

1K for Samantha Davis

Monday, Oct. 1st, 4-5pm

RBHS Track

Message from student Savannah Dyar:

Some of you may have heard the sad news about the death of Samantha Davis this past weekend. She was a Cross Country runner from Union Pines High School in North Carolina, and she passed away just a few hundred yards from the finish of her race in Charlotte, NC. We’ve all heard of tragedies like this when it comes to sports, but the closeness of her death really hit home considering she ran XC (as do I and many of my friends) and that this happened during a meet. After I found out that my best friend and Samantha attended the same high school, I immediately contacted my friend and asked her if there was anything I could do; she said that local schools and the teams that attended the Charlotte meet are running 1k’s in honor of the last split Samantha was unable to finish, and that it would be greatly appreciated by the community if we would participate and spread the recognition for Samantha by taking videos/pictures and posting/tagging them as well (the tags will be available at the 1k).

Although sad, River Bluff has an opportunity to “Do Good” and rally together, showing support for Samantha, her family, and the community. I invite anyone who is interested to join myself and the RBHS Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams to complete the 1k for Samantha, which will be held at the track on Monday afternoon, Oct. 1st, at 4:10 PM.

Signing Out Procedures

A reminder to parents regarding signing students out during the school day. Someone from the student's sign out sheet must come in and show ID to dismiss a child. We do not accept phone calls or emails for dismissal. You can come in on Monday to sign your child out during the week but only up until Friday of the same week. Also, if you are dismissing your child during ILT, then it is helpful to have made arrangements with the student ahead of time. We appreciate your help to assist in making this process efficient.

Counseling and Advisement Assignments for Students

Counseling and Advisement Team

The Counseling & Advisement team is working towards a more intentionally focused program to provide students with the best support. Rather than counselors having students in all grade levels (9-12), we are realigning to be able to more appropriately serve students’ transitional needs at the different levels. This realignment will also more closely mirror our CREW design allowing students to stay with their school counselor their 9th and 10th grade years and then have another counselor their 11th and 12th grade years.
