Physical Properties

An Characteristic of a material that can be observed or measured with out changing the density.

  • color and shape
  • length and mass
  • volume and density

Physical Changes

  • The physical property of a substance change, but the identity of the substance dose not change.
  • changing from one state to another
  • melting point 0 degrees C, and boiling point 100 degrees C

Chemical Properties

Any characteristic that gives a substance the ability to under go a change that results in a new substance.

  • flamibility
  • reacts to oxygen

A change in the identity of a substance due to the chemical properties of that substance.
