PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tēnā koutou kātoa e te whānau,
This weeks newsletter comes to you from my dining room table as I'm isolating at home with Covid. Although still testing positive, I now feel like I have come through the worst of it. My symptoms were that of a head cold, runny nose, head ache and a sore throat, nothing too bad.
We have a few children and another staff member isolating after testing positive but I am confident that these cases have been household contacts and everyone currently isolating was at home before they became unwell.
We are continuing to maintain our strong hygiene procedures and we are grateful for the families that are able to keep their children at home if they are unwell.
We have been able to manage the school with some classrooms doubling up due to staff shortages in some areas. We are making sure to keep things as normal as possible for the children so they remain happy and safe and that learning continues for them. If your child is isolating, please contact their classroom teacher and a home learning pack will be delivered to your home.
We have three and a half weeks before the Easter break and I am hopeful that we can get there without too much disruption.
Colour Fun Run - you still have time to sign your child up and start fundraising. There are some really cool rewards to gain by registering your child. All children who raise money are eligible for the rewards. So far The Ark has raised the most money, over $3000! Great work Ark kids and whanau. The money raised will go towards developing a bike track for the children. If anyone in our community has experience with building bike tracks, we would love to hear from you.
Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with whanau who are unwell and having to self-isolate. We thank our wonderful community for continuing to support our school and whanau during this challenging time.

2023 John Paul College Enrolments
Online registration for 2023 JPC enrolments are now open on the JPC website https://jpc.school.nz/
The 2023 enrolment process time frame is as follows:
• 1st March – online registration portal is opened
• 21st May 2022 – Open Day – 8.30am to 12.30pm
• 27th May 2022 – online registrations close
• June 2022 – enrolment interviews held (dates TBC)
• 2023 enrolment acceptances notified before 8th July
• Placement Test / Orientation dates to be confirmed (October? November?)
Please don't leave it too late, you will need to get a new preference card from the Parish office. Your child will not be accepted into JPC without a preference card. If this is an issue for you, please come in and speak with Rachael.

Next board meeting Date: Thursday 24 March.
At each BOT meeting - twice a term - policies are reviewed. If you would like to communicate with the BOT, you are welcome to email our independent e-mail address; botstmichaels@gmail.com or alternatively, send letters to the school in an envelope marked "Board of Trustees."
You are also welcome to attend any meeting, however, if you would like to have speaking rights, you need to request this from the chair using the email address. This email address can be accessed by Nick Horton (Chair)
