Nurse Kelly’s Corner
Epistaxis, or nosebleeds, are common in children. Triggers include upper respiratory infections, nasal trauma (bumping their nose), environmental allergies and low air humidity (especially in the winter). Nose picking can also cause nosebleeds.
Tips for Treating Nosebleeds
1. Stay calm and reassure your child.
2. Pinch nose tightly just below nasal bone for at least 5 minutes
3. Have your child sit up with their head tilted slightly forward (to prevent blood from draining back into throat)
4. Apply a cold compress to nasal bridge to help stop bleeding
5. To prevent recurrent nosebleeds use nasal saline spray, and/or apply a dab of vaseline inside the nostril to keep it moist.

This week we celebrated Proud To Be Me Week! So many students participated and it was fun to see all the different outfits that the students wore all week. Next week I will be sharing some pictures I snapped. Have a great long weekend!
Thank you for your support!
