Suffolk Sustainability 101

A quick guide to being sustainable in the residence halls!

What is sustainability?

Sustainability is about meeting the needs of today’s generations, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

At Suffolk, we work together to encourage individual and collective decisions and actions that foster conservation. Sustainable practices promote environmental, financial, and social well-being.

DID YOU KNOW?

EASY WAYS TO CONSERVE ENERGY & H20!

Energy

  • Turn off lights in unoccupied spaces/use daylight instead of artificial light
  • Dress appropriately - have layers on hand
  • Replace your inefficient light bulbs with high efficiency CFL or LED bulbs
  • Use the power saving setting on your desktop/laptop
  • Turn off electronics when not in use
  • Reduce dryer usage by using a drying rack for laundry
H20

  • Turn off the faucet when brushing teeth/washing face
