The Fulton Flier

Week of September 8th

Dear Fulton Families,

We hope that everyone had a wonderful long weekend and for those of you celebrating, Shana Tova!

Our first week flew by and we definitely wouldn't describe it as uneventful. We appreciate everyone's patience as we navigated longer than usual dismissals with some of our buses and even an early dismissal due to the weather on our 3rd day of school. If you have not already, please take a moment to update your Family File. This is especially important in the event of an unscheduled early dismissal and helping us to ensure your child gets dismissed according to your wishes.

We always appreciate input from families about ways we can improve. Please let us know your thoughts, take a moment and complete our Fulton Feedback Form. If you would like for us to contact you directly regarding your feedback, please be sure to include your email/contact information.

Warmly,

FES Admin

Arrival & Dismissal Changes and Reminders

Due to the congestion during dismissal, we have revised our car loop path to use Cedar Lane School Parking lot instead of Lime Kiln. If you will be dropping your child(ren) off or picking them up, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our revised process.

To ensure the safety of all students during arrival and dismissal, dogs are not permitted on school grounds.

If you are meeting your child(ren) who is a walker- please meet him/her at the flagpole if you live in South Maple Lawn and across the street if you live in Maple Lawn. This will help to reduce the congestion in our carloop waiting area and within our bus loop.

Cafeteria Process Update

We are excited to share pictures of our indoor cafeteria with plexiglass as well as our outdoor seating areas. For more details, please review our Cafeteria Process.

Indoors with Plexiglass

Students remain within their plexiglass area once they are seated and eating. Students are doing a great job of wearing their masks after eating and drinking.

FES Outdoor Cafeteria

We currently have two primary classes and one intermediate class outside each day and the classes enjoy outside eating on a rotating basis. We are constantly looking for ways to increase the amount of students eating outside- we recently just purchased mosquito nets to protect our students from bees and flies so they can enjoy their lunch.

Please remember to send your child to school in layers, some times there is a cool breeze during lunch.

Back to School Nights

We are excited to see you for our in-person back to school nights. Please ensure you wear a mask and sign-in once you enter your child’s homeroom. We are asking that only parents/guardians attend. You will have the opportunity to learn a little more about your child’s grade and teacher.

Classroom presentations will be shared with all families after the events.

Big picture

FES School Counseling Connection

School Counselors, Mrs. Shields and Mrs. Wilson-Carr, are SO excited that everyone is back in school! They can support students and families in a variety of ways, such as processing feelings, assisting with the transition back, and helping students be successful in school. Please click this link to access the monthly HCPSS School Counseling Connection.

Fall School Picture Day is September 21st!

You can view the portrait packages available online. Paper copies will be sent home with students closer to our picture day! You can also order and pay for pictures online.

If you have any questions regarding our fall picture day, please contact Mrs. Leslie Brickner.

Headphones!!!

Students will begin using their Chromebooks in Technology as well as other parts of their day. Please send in a pair of ear buds or headphones for your child to use. If you don't have any to send in, we have some for students to share.

Grade Level Instructional Packets

Central Office has created choice board packets for each grade-level PK-5th to include content-specific instructional activities to help keep students intellectually active while at home when schools are closed for inclement weather, during quarantine, or other unexpected events.

The tasks that students complete at home will not be used for assessment purposes or counted as part of the students’ grade. Each instructional area included has a “choice board” of task options. During each day of quarantine or when we are closed for inclement weather, students should select and complete a variety of tasks from each instructional area “choice board”.

We wanted to ensure you had access to these instructional packets; however, in the event your child has to quarantine or we close for inclement weather, FES administration will share your child's grade level packet with you:

The PTA Perch

On Monday, September, 6th our PTA sent out a Message with information on how to join, upcoming events, and ways to connect with one another. Please check out that newsletter for more detailed information.

To help keep you abreast of our Fulton processes and protocols this year, we have created a FES Frequently Asked Questions Document. You will find answers to your wonderings about our cafeteria process, masks, technology related questions, quarantining, and much more.

We will be updating this frequently and it will be located on our home page of our website. Please access our Q&A document here.
