From the Principal's Desk

Happy First Day of November!!

Thank you everyone for attending our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences this last month. We have been working together to meet with all parents and families to update you on your child's progress and educational goals. If you were unable to attend, and your child's teacher has reached out please get back in touch with him or her. We can still meet at this time. Our goal is to reach 100%!

We will be entering our colder weather with the Fall Season fully upon us. Please be sure to send your child in proper winter attire for outside recess. We hate to see sniffly noses and colds from exposure to the colder weather. If your child is in need of a winter coat please be sure to contact me, and I can assist you in finding this resource for you and your children. We do have a selection of wonderful winter coats donated to the schools each year.

This year we will be once again having our "Thanksgiving Feast", but I have made a change to the dates for this year. The Feast is taking place only on November 15th during your student's normal lunch time. This is different than the first "Save the Date", I shared out in September for the Fall and Winter terms of the school year.

Look for the information to go home in this week's Friday folder. This year the Scholastic Book Fair is the same week as the feast. To help ensure we do not have overcrowding, this year we will have guests eat with their students in the classrooms. The Book Fair will be open and in the school square for book browsing and purchasing to support our school Library with the proceeds.

Thanksgiving Break will be from Wednesday, November 22nd through Sunday, November 26th. School will not be in session during these dates.

A Note from the Assistant Principal

Mr. Samuel, our Assistant Principal, was so excited in how our new Positive Office Referrals have taken off at GBE. He often sees some of the not so great choices we are making at school. He and the PBS team decided to accentuate the positive and give students notice for doing great things. He was ecstatic to share last week that he was near 100 positive office referrals that he was able to call parents with and share. He loves making these types of calls home with the students!

Scholastic Book Fair is Here! It's Here!!

GBE will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair the week of November 13 in the School Square.

For the first time ever, we will be having an Online Book Fair!! Beginning November 7, you can shop online any time of the day through November 17. The Online Fair includes an expanded selection of books for all ages and offers free shipping to our school on all orders. The link to our online book fair is included in this newsletter, but you can also access it on the GBE Library webpage linked to the Moberly School District website. Here is our Online Book Fair link… http://www.scholastic.com/bf/gratzbrown1 The Book Fair will be open during the school day, before and after school on Tuesday, November 14 - Friday, November 17. It will also be open during our Thanksgiving Feast on November 15. Come see us at the Fair!
