7th Graders Attending PHSN Production
Last week, it was mentioned that our 7th graders will be attending the PHSN production of Cheaper by the Dozen on Thursday, November 17. Students are to bring in $5 for the show to their first-period teacher. Checks can be made payable to "PHSN Theatre Dept."
If you do not wish for your child to attend the show, please notify the school in writing by either emailing Mrs. Bertke at pamela_bertke@plsd.us or sending in a written note.
Help Provide Thanksgiving Dinner To Families in Need
From the dates of Nov. 14-Nov. 22, the student council will be collecting canned goods and dry goods to donate to the local food pantry. Our food drive will help hungry families in our community for Thanksgiving.
Did you know, that 49 million Americans this year will struggle to put food on the table and 1 out of 5 children are at risk for hunger? School food drives like ours help make sure children and families can get emergency food assistance when they need it.
Please give what you can. One grocery bag of food can provide as many as 11 meals. If every student would bring in at least one item, we can provide many families with meals at this special time of year. Every single donation helps, the teams will be competing to provide the most donation and together we hope our combined donations will make a real difference for the holidays!
After School App
We try our best to stay on top of what is going on and when we find something that we feel parents should be aware of, we share. One app that has been causing some problems is an app called After School, which looks like the picture above. In this app, groups are created and then students are able to post anonymously about anything, which usually results in hurtful comments about other students.
I have attached a link below to an article I found entitled "5 Reasons Your Kids Shouldn't Use the After School App."
PTO Information
The PTO Meeting from last week has been rescheduled for Thursday, November 10 at 6:00. The meeting last week was canceled as nearly all officers and regular attending participants were not able to attend.

We will be donating the items after the first trimester to make room for the items that we will accumulate over the winter.
Holiday Assistance
The holidays are quickly approaching along with all the wonderful memories made during these special times. The holidays are an enjoyable time with family and friends, however, that does not mean that they are not stressful! We realize some families may need some assistance providing a memorable holiday for their children. Pickerington Schools are teaming up, once again, with the Violet Township Fire Department to help provide some assistance for families in need during this holiday season.
For those out and about during the holiday season, you may see big red boxes throughout the community and in the schools. If you would like to donate a new toy/gift for the holiday season it can be placed in the big red boxes. Suggestions for gift donations include, action figures, activity books, art supplies, bath & body items, Barbie dolls, blocks/building sets, board games, books, crafts, Disney items, fashion accessories, headphones/earbuds, handheld game devices, jewelry, Legos, make-up & hair accessories, perfume/cologne, puzzles, sports equipment, stuffed animals, toy trucks, and video games. If you would prefer to donate in other ways, such as gift cards, please send them to the school office.
If you would like an application for holiday assistance this year, please contact your school counselor: 7th graders - Amy_Weinrich@plsd.us & 8th graders- Sarah_Geiger@plsd.us or call 614-830-2200. The application is also below. Please only one application per household. This application is handled in a confidential manner; however, the information will be shared with local agencies. More details will be shared with applicants. The deadline for applications in will be NOVEMBER 18th, 2016.Amazon Smile for PTO
