This Week at MHS

Here's what's happening August 23-27!

Dear MHS Parents and Students,

We hope that students are settling into the grove of this school year and their classes. Remember that parents can check not only Powerschool, but also Canvas to keep track of student work and assignments. If you have not logged in since the start of school, we recommend checking student progress as this is week 4 of the nine weeks.

We are so excited to share that all of our students will be receiving a FREE All Sports Pass for every home game for every sport for the regular season this school year! We will be distributing these passes this week on Tuesday and Wednesday during lunch time. Students should come to the table in the commons during their lunch to pick up their pass. A huge shout out to some remarkable alumni who helped make this a reality for our students. So come on out - fill in the student section - and let's cheer for the Rebels!

Wishing everyone a great week at Dear Old Maryville High!

COUNSELOR'S CORNER

Registration for the PSAT is now open in the guidance office. We encourage high achieving students who are taking the most rigorous courses at MHS to take this exam. The PSAT is great practice test for 10th graders for a high stakes testing environment. Juniors must take this test in order to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The PSAT will be on October 13 from 8:00-11:30 and the cost is $25. Please check the MHS webpage for a registration form. Deadline to register is September 10, 2021.

MHS will administer the ASVAB test on Tuesday, September 7 in the Auxiliary Gym. Please use this link to register: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=MZUbU75HG0aS8l-mEweKggcNua5qsDBEuVQqhZjg7n9UNkE1SVJXRzZQSDNBVkszWkszUEROS0xTMS4u. Students should sign up by the end of the school day on Sept. 3. Students are responsible for communicating with teachers regarding makeup work from classes missed. See your counselor with any questions.

Parents of seniors: the Senior Checklist 2021-2022 can be found here https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1628683628/maryvilleschoolsorg/ga5gxwvnxyzrcx8aifgo/SeniorChecklist_2.pdf. Check out this resource for a monthly break down of senior tasks and important dates. This checklist is also loaded in the MHS School Counseling Canvas page under the "Senior Information" tab and housed on the guidance webpage.

Once again, we'll be using SCOIR for our college planning platform and our document submission tool for the Class of 2022. Transcripts must be sent through SCOIR! All seniors have a SCOIR account tied to their MHS student email. Most of our seniors have registered with SCOIR. Those who have not, received an email on Friday, August 20 inviting them to join SCOIR. Please encourage your child to get this account set up. Already have an account but having trouble logging in? Remember that the student's email address is the username. If your child has forgotten the password, access the "forgot password" link here: https://app.scoir.com/forgot_password. After that account is set up, please instruct your child to change his/her primary email address to a personal one on the "Personal Details" screen. This process facilitates easy communication with college reps whose emails may be blocked by the MHS email system. Still having trouble logging in? See Mary Beth Martin in guidance for help!

CANVAS information for Parents

The two files below will help you access or create a Canvas Account. Canvas is the learning management system we use. Your student can access information for each of their classes, including a calendar that shows assignments, due dates, and other resources for the course.
