From the Principal's Desk...
there am I in the midst of them
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I want to thank you for your supportive reception of our reopening plan for September 3, 2020. We have worked carefully to develop a plan that we believe can be safely executed. Our plan was extensively reviewed prior to sending it to everyone last week. We will continue to send new information and updates every Wednesday.
Our teachers have been meeting in grade level groups and working to clarify as many details as possible. They, like you, will continue to have questions which we will work to gather and communicate responses. Today our teachers will be sending out class homeroom lists to every family. Additionally, we will be sending out our phase in meetings for our incoming kindergartners. Thank you for your patience.
We are working to finalize our significantly modified Open House schedule, and we are working with our technology consultant, Zach Collins, to schedule pick up and orientation times for our new computers.
In today’s Gospel (MT 18:15-20), we are reminded of the critical importance of prayer, community and trust in the Lord’s presence. “Again, amen, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, “there am I in the midst of them.”
In these times of uncertainty as we work to reopen St. John the Baptist School, may we all pray together and ask the Lord to strengthen and protect our students, parents, faculty and staff. Jesus has promised in the clearest of language that we can ask about anything together in prayer and know this “there am I in the midst of them.”
Peace,
Dan Minelli

Please use the document attached below as a tool to help you decide if you should keep your child home from school. If you have any concerns and aren't sure it is always best to err on the side of caution and keep your child home.
PLEASE NOTE; the tool states the temp at 100.4 - we are using 100 degrees even.
*** If the student/parent/caregiver answers YES to any question in Section 1 but NO to any questions in Section 2, the student would be excused from school in accordance with existing school illness management policy - 3 days symptom and fever free without fever reducing medications.
*** If the student/parent/caregiver answers YES to any question in Section 1 and YES to any question in Section 2, the student should be referred for evaluation by their healthcare provider and possible testing.

Congratulations to Brianna Birkle
Congratulations to Brianna Birkle, St. John's Class of 2018, for winning the Congressional Art Competition 2020 | U.S. House of Representatives. Her amazing drawing, "Call of the Road Through Generations," is of her brother (St.John's Class of 2014), father, and grandfather and their first cars.
She and one parent will get to fly to Washington D.C. to see her painting hanging in the Capital Building. It will remain there for one year. Congratulations to Brianna...we are very proud of you!
