Descanso Elementary Friday Focus

March 20

Hello Descanso Families

We are in an unusual moment in time. None of us has seen anything quite like it, but we will get through this together! Our staff had a Zoom conference call yesterday and everyone is well but we all miss the kids! It is our job as teachers and parents to provide some calm for our kids.

Looking Ahead:

March 23-27: Students do not have required work but they can work on these basic skills at home

*Reading- books, magazines, MyOn, Epic

*Math- Math Fact Practice addition and subtraction for K-2 and multiplication and division for grades 3-6. TK & K can also practice writing numbers to 100.

*Spelling- District Expert Words- see attached.

*Writing- All grades are expected to write a personal narrative, opinion and informative essay.

K-2nd sentences and 3-6th paragraphs

Many tech companies have offered free digital resources you can take advantage of. I have included links to a few below. In addition, students can log on to our district Classlink below. If you would like more resources or guidance, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher.

March 30- April 13: Spring Break- Relax and enjoy the extra time with your family

April 14: We all hope to be back in school as usual. But no one can predict what the future will hold. Principals and teachers are currently working together on a plan if we do not return on the 14th.
