Life with Essential Oils

Good Things from God

What Can Oils Do?

Believed by many and known to some to work wonders, essential oils contain the true essence of the plant from which they were derived. Contrary to what you would think, these essential oils are not oily to touch, but rather a pure liquid extracted from the plant. The oils are distilled by using either water or steam and are highly concentrated. Because of this, essential oils are packaged in small bottles as only a few drops are needed at a time.

The uses vary from aromatherapy to household cleaning to insect repellent to natural remedies for physical discomfort and well being. Essential oils are often used by diluting them with a carrier oil (sweet almond oil, coconut oil, grape seed oil) and then applying this blend to the skin for absorption.

Are All Essential Oils Created Equal?

100% Pure Essential Oils:

No foreign substances allowed. Made from organically grown (or wild crafted) plants. Steam Distilled at correct temperature and pressure. These oils will last for many years. Many of these oils can be used internally. These oils are recommended for use in aromatherapy as well as for use on the skin using proper dilution.

Food Grade Essential Oils:

Foreign substances are allowed such as: pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other cultivation chemicals. Substances allowed to increase quantity: various vegetable carrier oils, synthetic extenders, and chemical extenders. These oils may go rancid within 6 months. Because there is no US regulation on essential oils, these may be labeled as pure although they are far from it. These oils should not be used internally or extensively on the skin.

Perfume Quality Essential Oils:

Foreign substances are allowed such as: pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other cultivation chemicals. Substances allowed to increase quantity: various vegetable carrier oils, synthetic extenders, and chemical extenders. Other substances allowed are solvents, alcohol, and other known cancerous chemicals. These oils may go rancid within 6 months. Again, due to the lack of US regulation on essential oils, these may be labeled as pure although though they are the opposite. These oils should not be used for anything related to your physical body.

My Experience with EOs

So....I have been using Essential Oils for a number of years now for various reasons. My original experiences were with EOs purchased from local stores and were very basic -- lavender, lemon, wintergreen, and blends for muscle soreness, etc.

About 10 months ago, I was introduced to better quality oils and a much larger assortment. Wow! What a difference just in some of those basic "lesser" oils I had been using for years! And, now I've got a much larger variety to choose from when I so desire.

If you are interested in more information about the oils I use, I would love to hear from you. My contact information is at the bottom of this flyer.
